  1. Good to see the quad going at Magic tomorrow, it’s been a long time. I was there yesterday and they were running it on and off all day testing. Not 2’ like up north sadly. The skiing was super “sporty” and very dangerous. Ice, rocks, roots, dirt and water bars skiing all on very thin cover. I personally love the challenge. Light, quick feet, jumping through rock gardens and landing (very small) airs on to ice! Both me and some how my skis survived unscathed.
  2. Enso states and MJO progression aside. We will get a few days in late February of warmth and The masses rejoice that spring is here and boom! Last year comes to mind, 2018, 2017, 2020 if it wasn’t for covid. This doesn’t apply to coastal dwellers I suppose.
  3. Saturday looking a little disjointed on the GFS. Was hoping to see it make a move towards the positive. Still plenty of time.
  4. I’d like a repeat of December 2019. Almost 2’ around here. I’d like to skip the blow torch two weeks later though.
  5. Pretty sad. Only around 6-8” of snow but the winter appeal is there none the less. This is on the western side of the Berkshires, on the Florida/North Adams line.
  6. I’ve always been a boob man! 40 spot here that storm last year.
  7. Pretty deep winter look across the crest of Berkshires still. I’ll snap a picture tomorrow. Such a huge difference from the valley up to over 1500’. I’m not saying it’s been a good winter by any stretch, we’re way behind in seasonal snowfall.
  8. 2 hour delays up here. Roads are slick. Wish I knew how to sleep in.
  9. Pretty light here in Hadley. Heading home and up the Berkshire East this afternoon. Supposed to pick up as the day goes along.
  10. Mount Snow was great yesterday. They have a ton open including some natural offerings. Groomers skied very well. I never waited more than a minute in a lift line despite it starting to feel real busy around 9:30. Coldest morning I’ve skied in so far this season, around -2 up top with a decent amount of wind. I’d say despite the rain and warm weather all things considered they are pretty close to what it would normally be mid Jan.
  11. Hot and heavy this afternoon at Berkshire East. Several inches quickly with heavy winds. The resort lost power about 3:30 and never came back on.
  12. Berkshire East was mobbed today. I got a few runs of fresh tracks before the place blew up around 10am. People are excited about skiing that is for sure.
  13. I don’t get my rocks off from wind and infrastructure destruction. Everyone has their fetish! Euro starting to look even better for NVT staying mostly frozen. Need a nice base building event.
  14. Don’t like looking past this weekends storm but man does next weeks storm seem like a tipping point for winter at least out here up into Vermont. I’ve seen 2011 mentioned, maybe take that and move it north a tad. Big January no doubt that year. Haven’t really had a big January since.(we missed out on big Jan 2015 storm) I don’t expect much right here due to our lower elevation but drive 30 mins in several directions as Hippy knows and it’s a completely different world.
  15. I’m not much of a picture taker but here are a few from Bolton Valley this past weekend. Sad about all the rain we got! Hopefully things can recover sooner than later. New lift at Berkshire East supposed to go online tomorrow! Skiing was really good today, nice smooth manmade groomers.
  16. Stowe was pretty fantastic today! Found fresh tracks well into the day. Gotta love midweek powder skiing in early December!
  17. Wild stuff at Abasin. Opening tomorrow in the midst of a big time snow storm.
  18. Pretty good window. There is money to be made early season. People jonesing for early turns. Mount Snow, Killington, SR for sure will be looking start blowing.
  19. Nice day here, mix of sun and clouds and a great breeze! Blew out the rear hub on my mountain bike which put a damper on things. Trails are running nice despite all the leaves.
  20. Too bad about Black. I’ve had a few very good days there. The terrain off their double is excellent. Had a killer powder day there back in 2010. 18” on no base! Hard to compete in that market up there, every season seemed like their last. Sad to see.
  21. 58 and drizzle here in South Deerfield, MA. Feels cold. Not bad at home. Nice dry mountain bike ride this am.
  22. 2018-19 was pretty meh out here. I can’t even remember if we got any of that march storm here. Snow haters should not look at the pictures from northern Vermont. Massive late March storm.
  23. Mount Hood: 8/20 and 8/22. Due to a very busy summer I was not able to ride the lift as it closed 8/13. I was pretty determined to get out and ski while I was in the northwest so threw my skins in my bag. The Palmer snowfield is well groomed and a nice path is groomed down the gully towards the timberline lodge. I was able to catch this path about 300 vert up from the parking lot. This allowed a decent 2200 vert skin all the way to the top of the Palmer lift. Skiing was really nice due to the frequency and consistency of grooming. It was not steep at all but it was a lot of fun. There was only one spot near the silcox but I had to take my skis off due to dirt, otherwise is was a pretty smooth trip up and back to the car. The second day had better weather(no smoke) but 48 hours of sun blew open a couple crossovers and skis had to be taken off.
