Great day out at the local hill. Best skiing in several years. Snow was dense enough to cover a lot of the rocks. Cliffs were dropped, lots of trees were skied, and fun was had! Did get really busy but the stashes stayed stashed for the most part as they say. .

LOL! I sound like an old man. It was just different back then. We still had snow days but cold days really weren't a thing.

Now they delay or close schools for negative temps. I think it was 1994 I remember waiting for the bus with temps in the -20ish range for almost a week. I remember even inside the building it felt cold.

We have about 6” here in Shelburne Falls. .

Mount Snow was pretty darn good today. Plenty of snow up on the hill. Patrol dropped some ropes. Only one picture for us, way too cold and too much fun for pictures. .

Nice opening weekend at Berkshire East. Not a lot of terrain but it was fun to be out. Hope they get some more open for Friday.

Looks like SVT is getting it pretty good right now. Nothing but virga here in our little valley. .

Great way to start off the lift serve season at Stowe yesterday! Upper Starr into untouched woods first run of season! Glorious! .

Deep winter feel out here in the Berkshires!

Very jealous of people getting laps up north! Father had a stroke so I’ve been helping out with property management and financial affairs. Hope I can skin or even just ride lifts soon! .

Nice seeing so many people get after it this weekend. Nice and snowy up high. We got after it in a different way on some of our favorite enduro trails across the river from Berkshire East ski area. .

I did a 8 day wilderness camping trip in the flatter western part of the ADK park, north Herkimer County. I can say at lower elevation we experienced most nights at -20F with two below -30F. It was a very wintery vibe indeed.

As long as there isn't a torch like last year in November. Keep November cold, dark, windy, cloudy and damp! The way it should be!

Some brief windows for snowmaking after the rain end of the week, but not consistent. If the mid month mild up happens then its looking a lot like last year for the Thanksgiving weekend faithful. I'm sure killington and sunday river will find a way to get open at least the weekend before while everyone else is scrambling!

Wait what are we tracking? Oh I see, tropical at hour 280 something with snow at the end potential. Be nice to get some snow in the high places before November 1st but please not here, still bike season, early snow is bad juju. Looks pretty nice the next few days until a little bit of rain Sunday night.

It has been a struggle to get open in October in the 2020's but maybe this is the year. Maybe some cooler temps late in the month and Halloween on a Friday might create a marketing first day opportunity for SR and K.

Sunday River tested their guns the other day. Some cold mornings starting next week might get a few others into test mode. We just need some rain for the ponds.

Reupped my EPIC northeast value pass. Only 50 mins to Mount Snow with having occasional midweek flexibly makes it a no brainer. I was weighing my options and came to the conclusion that if you're not skiing Saturday it's a not a bad place to be. It's not very steep but it's not completely flat either. It has some decent natural snow trails and the on and off map woods can be fun. The bonus of Stowe is nice plus the northern NH epic hills are a blast especially Wildcat. I actually had a killer day at Okemo of all places last January, skied only woods and natural snow trails the entire day, pretty fun times really. Maybe being 44 I'm not as inclined to seek the gnar so I'm just enjoying skiing more no matter where it is.

Labor Day starts getting me pretty pumped for ski season! Hope is to get after it a bit more this season, didn't hit 100 for the first time in 4 seasons. Makes me sad. Gotta get after it more life is too short. Just ski!

Raining again here. Seems endless. Everything is damp and gross. No sun, vampires are probably thrilled.
