  1. Heavy white rain here. 34 degrees. Mount snow tomorrow am should be interesting.
  2. This is my third straight season actively going for 100 ski days. It’s been a rough one down here this winter. Price I pay for living where I grew up I guess. Two kids, full time job, other obligations have kept me from getting north as much as I’d like too. This has been the most challenging season so far. Local hill has been closed so I have had to get creative this week. Mount snow in the pouring rain before work Thursday and a super nice after work session at Bousquet last night. 75 and counting…..
  3. Lol. Seems like the GFS is now the outlier. See what the euro does. I know people probably don’t care at this point.
  4. The euro wasn’t this showing that much snow that far south at 0z? That would be nice. New puppy, kid’s activities, mount snow is the best option for me Sunday.
  5. Need more behind it. It’s peak snow climo in the mountains. Maybe the 3/15 to 3/22 period can provide it. Powderfreak talked about it in the NNE thread but it’s really amazing how the northern spine has done so well despite these huge positive temperatures anomalies. The rest of the NNE mountains not so much. Need a couple big qpf events to reload. Side note, these next couple rain events may do in most smaller resorts. Berkshire East was horrible yesterday and I’m not sure they can recover. Gonna rain real hard Sunday. Maybe they can push around some piles but it will take a lot.
  6. Back to northern Maine only now on the NAM. It was a fun dream!
  7. I love AC install talk! Not that it’s ever right and I shouldn’t get sucked in but the NAM today has been getting interesting for elevated parts of central/northern New England Thursday.
  8. Whaleback shutting down their chairlift after today. Will only be using their learning center next weekend. Sadly this may be the fate of many small hills the next week.
  9. Gonna continue to be rough for a few more days. Not dropping below freezing at elevation at night in NNE mountains is not good at all. But after today it looks like no sun for days and days and rain doesn’t seem as likely. Both the Euro and and the GFs bring snow in different ways late this week. I have some faith in a good mid March to end of season up north. SNE I think you will see resorts closing very soon even if they get snow late in the week.
  10. Hopefully a bit of wet snow up high. 18z GFS is rain to snow and then days and days up there for later next week.
  11. Euro could be on to something for the ski resorts up north. Honestly for me that is all that matters right now. Bike and ski season at the same time is always great! Just gotta avoid days of rain and mud down in the valley.
  12. Feels like deep winter this evening despite no snow cover. Probably the coldest day until December or 2025. New puppy has lost his mind at the sound of the wind at least 5 times on our walk.
  13. It has sniffed out a couple events here and there. Seems better than the euro as of late.
  14. Ole man winter has broken both his hips and was punched in the face several times. I think it’s time for a nap.
  15. Yeah pretty bad around here up into SVT for snow. Up around Magic there is probably around 8-10” of “pack.” My memory is a bit foggy but this does reminds me of 2009-10 here. That season was saved by the 3’ elevation bomb late February. We need one of those badly! The next winter was pretty sweet so I have some sort of hope for what’s coming.
  16. Good to see the quad going at Magic tomorrow, it’s been a long time. I was there yesterday and they were running it on and off all day testing. Not 2’ like up north sadly. The skiing was super “sporty” and very dangerous. Ice, rocks, roots, dirt and water bars skiing all on very thin cover. I personally love the challenge. Light, quick feet, jumping through rock gardens and landing (very small) airs on to ice! Both me and some how my skis survived unscathed.
  17. Enso states and MJO progression aside. We will get a few days in late February of warmth and The masses rejoice that spring is here and boom! Last year comes to mind, 2018, 2017, 2020 if it wasn’t for covid. This doesn’t apply to coastal dwellers I suppose.
  18. Saturday looking a little disjointed on the GFS. Was hoping to see it make a move towards the positive. Still plenty of time.
  19. I’d like a repeat of December 2019. Almost 2’ around here. I’d like to skip the blow torch two weeks later though.
  20. Pretty sad. Only around 6-8” of snow but the winter appeal is there none the less. This is on the western side of the Berkshires, on the Florida/North Adams line.
  21. I’ve always been a boob man! 40 spot here that storm last year.
  22. Pretty deep winter look across the crest of Berkshires still. I’ll snap a picture tomorrow. Such a huge difference from the valley up to over 1500’. I’m not saying it’s been a good winter by any stretch, we’re way behind in seasonal snowfall.
