  1. Great last couple days at Magic and Berkshire East. Both skied really well and softened nicely in the afternoon. Magic Beast
  2. Ended up being a glorious day at Jay Peak. Full bluebird in the afternoon! Midwinter yesterday and full out spring today. Life is good indeed! This winter is starting to creep into top ten for me despite the poor start.
  3. Got in a great day at Dutch Hill Tuesday. Just so happened that I had the day off! Weather was decent, 1” at the bottom and about 3” at the top. Snow bonded perfectly with the snow underneath creating an almost perfect skiing surface. This coupled with a bottomless base made it one of my top days(which says a lot)! Ran into my friend as he was leaving but otherwise there was no one else there. Could not really ask for anything better. Sun even poked out from time to time.
  4. Great last lift service day for us at Beast today! Snow was perfect and the woods were still skiable. Latest I’ve skied trees there in a long time.
  5. general 6-12” at the resorts, where snow should be this time of year!
  6. Thunderbolt ski trail was great Friday! I’m pretty slow on the skin track but I managed to do the 2300 foot ascent in a little less than 2 hours. The skin track was pretty well worn in and a little icy in places but I managed to make it. Views from the top were fairly clear looking out toward the east. Wind was slightly strong but not unmanageable and there was no rain. The descent was as fun as always. Resort intermediate pitch for the most part but with natural conditions. Snow was fast and packed from the top until the trail leaves the AT. The rest skied well, finding untouched in the side woods was much better than the middle of the trail. Over all a great tour, I’m glad I got up there, it’s been a few years.
  7. I sadly had to work today but with snow days the last couple my kids and I managed to make some great turns at the local hill. Snow was very deep everywhere. Made me have zero want or desire to ski anywhere else. Heading up Mount Greylock tomorrow!
  8. We do. Others in town do not. Trees dropped on transformers middle of the night.
  9. Hard to tell how much we got here, looks like most of the storms here this year. Very wet and heavy. Power out in half the town. Id bet even 1/2 mile up the hill is pretty deep.
  10. Moderate to Heavy snow here. Im at 400 feet down here in the valley. I’d bet it’s pretty snowy one town over up in Ashfield.
  11. School already cancelled! Let us know on the way out! People not happy. I say embrace and just ski!
  12. Couple great days up in NH. Waterville Friday and Cannon Saturday. Waterville was probably the top weather day of the season, high 30s and full sun. Skied almost everything including the trees which were surprisingly very fun. Groomers and bumps were great too. Cannon was in midwinter form after a couple weeks of good snow. Skied lots of woods and natural trails. Did a run on Kinsman and finished our day on an extremely fun and technical off map run. Everything was a little scraped down and the natural was very icy but that is pretty typical of Cannon regardless.
  13. Smugglers Notch and Bolton Valley with my daughter Friday and Saturday. Smuggs was great, 2-3” of snow overnight and the lower angle woods and natural trails skied super nice. Bolton Valley was excellent as Jspin mentioned. We had to go to the main lodge to get our Indy pass tickets, so we started right on vista then caught the opening of wilderness. Two great days all around!
  14. Berkshire East Was a blast today. Skied great on the big fat powder skis, just for fun as they say!
  15. Top ten day at MHM for our “last.” Deep powder turns with constant refreshers. Face shots all day long. Our flights got cancelled the next day due to a 12/06 Boston type situation in Portland Wednesday night . We drove up Seattle to fly out of there instead. We skied the summit at Snoqualmie at night. Very cold but also very fun. Finally after more cancelled flights we made it home at 3:40am Saturday. Full 30 hours later than expected.
  16. Just finished three great days at Mount Bachelor. Not as steep as Meadows but certainly plenty of great terrain. Such an impressive mountain overall. Summit was open for us Sunday. We did two big 3300 vert runs through the alpine down into endless tree skiing off the backside. We finished off the three days with storm skiing all day today. Back to Meadows tomorrow.
  17. Great night skiing at Hoodoo last night. Very fun place to ski. Fun fast groomers and lots of stuff for my son to jump off. I’d love to get back their and ski off the summit.
  18. Hoping any frozen is moved out of Albany before we fly in @ 9:30 Thursday.
  19. Mount Hood Meadows is pretty legit. Doesn’t get the credit it deserves. Skied some pretty steep lines yesterday, heather canyon, private reserve, both super fun. The rest of the mountain was pretty awesome too. Snow was real good while the sun was out. Skied a pretty legit no fall line into Heather canyon, chalky wind blown to straight up ice, had to tell myself several times “I’m a good f$&king good skier!”
  20. Mad River Glen was a great time yesterday! Place was pretty empty with both the single and double chairs being ski on. Snow was nice and soft up top which made for some fun turns in the woods. Trails are getting pretty thin but they still skied well. They did close a few more. Lower half of the mountain was very sticky. None of this stopped us fully from skiing our favorite lines but we did so with a real abundance of caution. My whole body is very sore today. Sadly, they are going to take a beating the next couple weeks. Fingers cross things can turn around again late month.
  21. Magic was great considering the snow surface. Slide of Hans and Goniff were decent. Natural trails were mostly coral reef and heavy crust but once they were skied they were fine. They badly need a foot or two!
  22. Berkshire East was good the last couple days. I managed to get out early yesterday before the wind and late today after the wind. Both days the skiing was excellent for midwinter manmade hard pack. Today felt much colder as the sun disappeared right when I got there. At Magic tomorrow for the JR IFSA comp. Looks like a glorious day!
  23. Going to bundle up and make a few runs tomorrow morning. I like skiing in the cold to a certain extent. Not sure Id be skiing in NNE tomorrow but down here won’t be as bad with full sun.
  24. Not sure how to follow up Japan. That looks like it was an amazing trip! I’d like to make it there someday. February 1st marks the beginning of the end for snowmaking at a lot of resorts. Most places like to wrap it up before the busy school vacation week. So go longer depending on weather and need. Looks like a prime stretch for round the clock snowmaking the rest of this week at least down here.
