  1. We were supposed to take off from DCA 45 minutes ago, but we’ve had to wait to be de-iced due to the less than an inch they got here. Meanwhile, my family is spamming me with reports and videos about the storm in South Jersey. Yay!
  2. I go by the closest weather underground reporting station, which is less than a mile away and always seems pretty reliable. We piled up early on but it’s just not accumulating much right now.
  3. What’s funny is that it’s still coming down pretty good here, but it’s melting almost as fast as it’s falling because it’s 33 degrees.
  4. It’s a little frustrating to get texts from my family in South Jersey hearing about how they’re already getting clobbered, but the fact that I need to get out on a 7:00 am flight tomorrow eases that pain a little bit. If I didn’t have that flight out, I might have been on tilt by now.
  5. It wouldn’t have been worth being upset about missing unless the storm ended up 75 miles west. It’s coming down nicely here in Burke, but it’s not as if we’re getting clobbered.
  6. First to catch and stay with the idea of a big storm. Just so happens it missed the bullseye by 50-100 miles.
  7. Went into the Rec Center for swim practice at 4:45 with no accumulations yet and came out at about 6:15 with nearly 1” on the cars. Fun drive home from Annandale to Burke!
  8. Because they're getting heavier rates and resulting dynamic cooling.
  9. 36 in Burke (325') and in the process of flipping to snow, even with relatively light rates.
  10. I don’t even know where the hell you live anymore.
  11. Personally? I’ve been down this road too many times. Warm temps hold on a smidge longer and rates don’t make up for it. We flip to white rain and end up with an inch of slush on the grass after the sun goes down. I guess the fact that I have to travel at the ass crack tomorrow morning doesn’t help.
  12. 37 and moderate rain. Eagerly anticipating my blizzard.
  13. I’m less concerned about flying out on Monday morning due to snow than I am with wind. Ugh…
  14. When we get 37”, I’ll be stuck at home until after my scheduled presentation on Wednesday.
  15. 11/30: Mix of sleet and light rain for a couple hours before switching to light cold rain. 12/2: Mix early in the morning before flipping to hard, cold rain. 12/5: 2.25”. 2” in the man event and 0.25” later that evening/overnight. 12/13: 1.25” 1/17-18: T - An hour or so of sleet/flurries on the 17th and very light snow on the 18th 1/25: 9.25" - 5" of snow overnight followed by all-day pounding sleet 2/7: 0.25” - Clipper? Frontal passage? Running Total: 13.00”
  16. It's easier to track a potential fail when we just had a pretty unique storm that has left us feeling like deep winter. Those of us not in the SE part of the forum would be jumping off cliffs if we hadn't scored this past weekend.
  17. Finished up the driveway and sidewalk yesterday. It was pretty easy since I had shoveled a couple times during the storm and set down some salt in preparation for getting that last inch for concrete up. I just used a spade to lift it - easy as could be. I'm going out today to dig out a space on the street and also clear out a spot by our mailbox. We had moved both cars into our driveway before the storm so the plows could do their thing, so now it's time to make some room to get one car onto the street and make room for our mail lady to do her job more easily (even if she isn't most personable individual lol).
  18. Not sure where you were when this happened, but someone on Reddit posted that they got the details of a car on 495 that hadn't been cleaned and ice flew off the roof and smashed another car's windshield.
