  1. Mixing sucks, and I don’t need anyone telling me that I should be happy that it’s going to sleet (and maybe freezing rain) with temps in the low 29s. You like it? Fine. I don’t.
  2. Wondering if this storm is going to ultimately have the lowest tracking/posting to snowfall ratio ever.
  3. Last January will have been much more fun for MBY if things go as now expected.
  4. 100% OK with that run. We get smoked one run, we whiff well south and east on another…yeah, that works for now.
  5. It's been a long week of tracking this thing and it's going to end up being half the storm I was hoping it would be. I'm just going to let things happen without having any expectations other than what's falling from the sky in the moment. Besides...we'll be in a winter wonderland in six days, so we've got that going for us!
  6. Ours knows how to do it, but she's so anti-confrontation that she backs down as soon as she thinks we might be annoyed at her. The little one, on the other hand, THRIVES on confrontation.
  7. Have at it, but I'm planning to stay out of the obs thread for my own sanity...
  8. Gotta say...while our 13-year-old can be a little sassy, she's pretty chill. We're incredibly lucky with her. Our 8-year-old is a different situation altogether...
  9. OK...let's get through this boring-ass ice storm and get to the really interesting stuff 10 days away.
  10. One of the things that sucks about flipping to sleet in the middle of the day is that the kids don't get the chance to play in ripping dendrites. Instead, they get pelted in the face by ice balls. F*ck sleet. F*ck the flip.
  11. Click the link. It says that remote and telework employees are expected to work and that non-telework employees will be given the hours they were supposed to work. That said, it is surprising given the current status of the federal workforce. NAMs suck.
  12. They're already off on Thursday and Friday. No way they have school Monday. Half of the elementary schools have early release on Wednesday. It's going to be cold AF and people won't shovel their sidewalks.
  13. At about 300 hours, the 18z GFS looked like it was trying to do it all over again, but the northern stream energy coming out of Alberta cut off and started drifting southwest over Utah.
  14. Congrats, Uccellini. I would, too. I'm thinking we see this pattern play out through much of February. Once the atmosphere gets worn out, we get really warm for a couple weeks, then run the pattern back again in mid-March or so, and finally roll into a toasty spring. But...for the time being, let's f*cking do this.
  15. I grew up in the close Philly suburbs of South Jersey! Pretty sure psu did, as well. But I moved here in 1997, so I've got some years on you. lol
  16. Pretty sure I have at a few years on you, so I'll use my superior flexibility and youthful reflexes to dutifully represent the sleet haters...
  17. Hate to say it, but I'm beginning to lose interest in this storm. It'll be cool when the snow comes in hot and heavy, but it'll flip during the day on Sunday, which kinda sucks (rather it flip at night if it's going to flip at all). Also doesn't help that we've been tracking this thing for like a week and we've seen such drastic changes for the worse over the last few days. I'm already looking forward to the next big-dog window, so at least there's that!
  18. Me, after watching the GFS from 228 to 252 hours...
  19. It’s all good in theory, but it’s a different situation when you have two kids and a job (which I could admittedly do remotely), plus a dog to get home to! That plus three other families without quite the flexibility the wife and I have with our jobs…
  20. Weird way to end up. All I take from this and previous runs is that the pattern is ripe.
