  1. I'm ready for it. Might as well stick a fork in the Chernobyl disaster of a winter. At least the heating bills are lower. Betting on a cooler than normal and slightly wetter summer too. Of course wetter implies nearly relentless 70+ dews. Oh well.
  2. If this winter got any worse it would be like getting embalmed with Fluoroantimonic acid!
  3. And just like Phil, the chance has gone *poof* again. This is literally a game of whack-a-mole. In the case perhaps, whack-a-woodchuck!
  4. ERCOT is fine, outages pretty much track areas of worst ice accretion. https://poweroutage.us/area/state/texas
  5. They brine the roads before rain. Might as well plow those puddles too! After all, folks waiting for the bus need 'deluge protection' from speeding motorists!
  6. We live in the DMZ for snow.
  7. I'll take anything but ZR. We still have noticeable tree damage from Feb 2014 storm up here. 3/4" ice accretion was average. Some folks without power for over a week! It was an absolute mess. Fortunately it wasn't super disruptive transportation wise as temps did warm enough and pavement temps were close to freezing. The Jan 1999 storm was worse in that regard. I will say this though. When the winds pick up with trees coated in ice the crackling sound heard is absolutely beautiful. Until the crack has the sharpness of a supersonic round which comes from a large limb breaking and coming right for you!
  8. I've hiked in Dominica where it can be 85F with 70DP at the port in Roseau and a jacket is required to maintain comfort in the mountain peaks. (over 4,000 feet) Easily 35-40 degrees colder. It's amazing how much different it feels 1500' AGL (compared to ground) on a transmitting tower. The increase in wind is enormous as well.
  9. As long as we have some decent thunderstorms. There's nothing like an all night rumbling episode of thunderstorm activity. The only thing that tops that is being at sea in the tropics. I'm OK with no snow and above normal. It's irritating like a hangnail. But no snow and frigid is like a splinter in your foot with no time to take it out and having to walk ten miles. Uphill.
  10. Intersection of 73rd and 13th.
  11. Near riots in Philly now, imagine when Eagles win SB!
  12. Sun angle is now 32.6 degrees. The light at the end of the tunnel is a locomotive headlight. But we could still get a 966mb low over the Potomac on the second week of March, right? Legit tropical storm winds and sleet it is!
  13. Sure there is! http://www.afn.org/~afn09444/weather/nwsgroup.html
  14. Coming to your backyard soon! Mud and peeper advisories!
  15. 44F in central Harford Co. and roads have been brined!
  16. Looking at it too long can be like driving a bus on a perpetual journey in the rain. Eventually the windscreen wipers hypnotize you and you think you're driving for Ted Nugent's tour and go absolutely insane!
  17. Replace "dinosaur" with "snow" in this clip and it about sums up winter so far! But if it's like the movie, careful there, as you may wind up with far more than you bargained for!
  18. I hope January gets shut out. Might as well make it record setting year! #racetothebottom
  19. Better yet just scroll past the rubbish and not think about it. Like driving in the country in the spring. The air is ripe with the smell of freshly fertilized fields. Most find it quite repulsive. Just hit the gas and get the hell out as quickly as possible. Problem solved.
  20. Might as well race to the bottom. Hopefully we have record warmth next month. Keeps the heating bills down. I'm OK with that. Snow lovers are going to have to move.
  21. So now if we have a (rain) storm during the winter, it's considered a winter storm?
  22. Open the window and you got an anemometer that rivals hot wire sensitivity.
