  1. I am in the middle of the Harford warn box. Absolutely no severe, winds near calm with moderate rain. 100s of lightning strikes this past 30 minutes within 10 miles and nice rumbling thunder. The heaviest activity was or is occurring to our northeast. Talk about being fringed. Looks like some training setting up. This is great tent sleeping weather but there may be too many CG strikes to be comfortable with that!
  2. Just got alerted for a lightning strike 8 miles south of me. Checked and yep, stuff popping up. Popcorn inbound.
  3. Newer smartphones have a wide angle lens. I have a Galaxy S10+ and the wide angle capture is quite impressive in that regard.
  4. Got a text from a friend leaving his office near Ellicott City. He sent me a pic of the ramp at 32 and 100 with a tree blocking everything except the shoulder. Looks bad. Stay safe out there! Lots of trees can still fall after the storm, been there done that!
  5. Probably nothing. Not that there was even a round one up here. Just a quick shower and one, yes one rumble of thunder! Big NON event here and we were solidly in enhanced whereas y'all to our south got legit severe.
  6. 43mph gust and heavy rain with pea sized hail. Nice spring thundershower. And we were under a tornado warning for 34 minutes.
  7. Haven't had strong winds out of the south for a while. By strong I mean 55-60 mph 3 seconds. My front door faces south and has a weather stripping under the bottom that sings loud like someone playing a kazoo very badly. It's quite hilarious. I was getting excited Sun night when it was getting close to 40 but no cigar.
  8. Yes for us MOD is rare. I do remember back in 1998 we got clobbered with baseball sized stones. We were in the hatched area but didn't get the damaging winds they got to the north and west. But those hailstones are damaging enough. Marbles with the occasional golf ball mixed in is OK. Once they get tennis ball sized it's not fun any more.
  9. I noticed this as well but it stopped. 4-7" and ending by midnight? Going to be some serious rates! May even beat the 2/19 event.
  10. Same here. Glaze on trees is beautiful.
  11. The sound of the water dripping off the trees onto the fresh aka mushy snowpack sounded like a downpour. Eerie with the bright sunshine. We did not breach 32 until after 830 here. Fortunately the precip shut down as if it rained all night there would have been tremendous tree damage.
  12. Not here but we're sensitive to it and with the ZR headed our way accretion is going to hit the 1/3" range on trees. Last time we had that category of ice would have been 2014. We got clobbered with that storm and a lot of folks along the MD/PA line were without power for a week or more. BGE is our supplier and they are decent with maintaining 10' clearance on overheads but with the mix of pines and oaks up here a Y split down the middle bringing half a tree across overheads is game over. EDIT: Winds are very slight so still a lot of snow on the spruce trees. When the wind starts to kick up with ice covering the forest it's one of the neatest sounds of nature hearing that crackling noise. Of course it can be dangerous too if you're too close and a big piece comes down on you! Such as this!
  13. Just starting to get cranked up here. Dusting on everything including paved sufaces. Took forever for that column to get saturated but we finally have flakes flying!
