  1. On the drive in from Mossy Grove to Bearden I’d say the big winner was around Pellissippi State. Snow accumulations started to taper off around Coalfield who I’d say got 1/4”. Oliver Springs really got screwed. Nothing even on roof tops or grassy surfaces. There was at least a faint hint of a dusting on the top of the hill between Oliver Springs and Oak Ridge. As Runman said OR itself looked pretty bleak. Snow picked up again on the hill just past Oak Ride on 62 heading toward pellissippi parkway.
  2. A couple of pics from my area: Obligatory deck pic: Have to head into to Knoxville for a dental appointment, so will be interesting to see how it played out from here to there.
  3. Ended up with about half an inch here in Morgan County. Congrats to all those east and northeast!
  4. The last few frames of the correlation coefficient radar show it starting to accelerate, esp. from NW to SE. The ring around MRX radar site is getting smaller as the snow elevation drops.
  5. I think the dynamics of the system will help more in the valley as it starts to really deepen east of the Apps. But on he subject of arctic air, you can see the rain snow line of correlation coefficient moving NW to SE. the green line as it moves from Bowling Green/ Portland and Glasgow, KY to Lafayette, TN.
  6. I could be 100% wrong about this, but it looks like as the energy is starting to close off and tilt more neutral, the TROWAL feature is starting to develop in West TN: I think it is that small area of precip. starting to build back barely west of main moisture, just south of Jackson, TN. You can also see the back edge of the lift the shortwave is producing (colder cloud tops/ darker purples over the same area of west TN) turning almost south to north on satellite (and maybe ever so slightly SSE to NNW):
  7. 46 up here in Morgan County and it feels like the tundra, lol. There's definitely some atmospheric battling going on at my location on the SE edge of the plateau in Morgan County. Last Jan. was when I think the HRRR told me the boundary layer would be problematic and that day there was a steady wind out of the SW. I felt that wind a few minutes ago when I went out to walk the doggos, but there is a stronger one blowing in from the NW more often than not.
  8. Not only does it downslope and warm the area we were talking about earlier, but dries it out as well:
  9. Down to around 49 here in Morgan County. Gusty, cold NW wind and light rain has begun.
  10. Actual arctic front starting to show up on radar into Eastern KY and closing in on me and John:
  11. 15z HRRR actually has a corridor almost directly south of Frozen Head/ Cross mt that takes longer to change over:
  12. I think part of what the models see is some downsloping off of the Frozen Head mts. Makes sense with a NE or NNE wind.
  13. I hope so. I just remember the HRRR indicating something like this with a system last year, and it played out that way. But, this storm a whole different beast and I have never seen such an energetic storm since I've been posting on here, so I will go with your alls experience.
  14. But man, I would love to have a cabin stocked up in the Grayson Highlands tonight!
  15. I think you're going to do much better than me with this one Reb. I suspect I will have boundary layer problems until the precip is just starting to move out, but the ~50 miles between me and Blount county will make a ton of difference. The low starts to deepen as the precip is moving out for me, but I think foothills areas will get really good rates for a while. The 14z HRRR actually shows areas closer to the mts turning before me in SE Morgan county.
  16. 12z RGEM shows major mixing issues for those of us in the central and southern valley just along the edge of the plateau:
  17. 12z HRRR looks like it is just a tad slower and deeper with the energy. I guess we'll see what that translates to at the surface.
