  1. I was there in the Poconos for the storm last year and it was amazing and we had snow squalls all day Saturday after a snowy Friday night! Found out back in Brooklyn and Long Island there was snow during the day on Saturday too!
  2. Thanks Don! And MPO if you could (it also helps our NW NJ residents who are near the border, the totals are very similar.
  3. I didn't know either....I had decided to cut and paste my posts to that thread I thought the + thing lost the post if you left the thread to go to a different one lol.
  4. I'll never forget how accurate he was in 93-94, with many of those 30 plus storms we had that season. He would do a 10:45 update with new model data the night before the storm and talk about how the storm would be more icy/snowy than anyone else was predicting and changeovers would be delayed and turned out to be correct.
  5. that 1-3 on Thursday and 1-3 on Friday from two waves could turn out to be correct then?
  6. It's interesting how this storm is viewed differently by different mets. Mr G, who is ancient, but the only one remaining from the old era of mets we grew up with on TV, said this is basically a two wave snowfall, with the first wave delivering 1-3 on Thursday and the second wave delivering 1-3 on Friday and thats the reason it's a WWA.
  7. Yeah I mean this is the same guy who said our latest snow was in late May, which was actually hail. This storm (and this entire week) has been a tough forecast.
  8. Maybe put it in banter lol. This is a fascinating topic
  9. Yes sorry I really tried not to so I'm really sorry about that, but it seems like a discussion was already being made so I decided to enter it.
  10. Yes it's gotten a lot worse from when I was little, maybe because of the higher precip averages we now have? what is it that causes the majority of allergies- weeds, deciduous trees, or mold/fungus?
  11. well probably not all snow, but about 80% snow with mixing when the precip is light like you said. The lack of WSW seems to be because of duration, except it's entirely possible we get to 6 inches by 4 PM. 5-9 sounds good for the majority of the area, which is what locals are going with
  12. wow wiki has loads of stuff on these wicked people
  13. the abbreviation "psycho" is a disservice, because when we use it outside of context there's no way to differentiate between psychopathy and psychosis
  14. Wasn't Loeb murdered? I dont remember..... Also, do you remember the case from the midwest where a bunch of pre teen school girls tricked another girl into going out with them and carved her up into pieces See, this is my proof that there is no such thing as a "god"
  15. Walt made a separate thread for this storm because we're within 12 hours
  16. No it was a little more than an inch. But on a snow track that would be a lot more and the winds would be incredibly destructive. In the snowicane at one point we were getting blizzard conditions with heavy snow on a south wind lol
  17. I edited my post to differentiate between psychopathy and psychosis sorry lol. psychopaths- know the difference between right and wrong and dont care. Like corporate psychopathy this is different from having psychosis. Psychopaths deserve to be jailed for their crimes. Ugh do you remember a really creepy case involving Leopold and Loeb? I cant even read about this stuff- I have horrible nightmares. These people should all have their brains surgically altered. Prison isn't enough, they need to have parts of their brain removed that cause them to be evil and violent.
  18. Walt, locals are going for a negligible change at the very end to a mix, with 6" or more for most of the area outside of southern NJ Saying that the storm is trending SEward NWS has us under 6-7 inches on Long Island
  19. It did have a lot of similarities to the Blizzard of 1888
  20. lots of psychos in the 70s psycho doesn't mean you shouldn't be punished for your crimes, lots of corporate head types are psychos too. sourced from Psych today "The corporate psychopathy" *I mean psychopaths, which is different from having a psychosis. Did you read about the dating game killer? They confused him with another serial killer who was 'working' at the same time (turned out to be three separate serial killers). Crazy how many times this guy was let out of prison and kept on killing. He was on death row multiple times and got released anyway. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Rodney_Alcala
  21. FWIW look up the snowfall map for Blizzard 1888- this might be the type of storm you've described. And it was in March after it was in the 60s lol.
  22. I shudder and shiver to think what will happen if we get a Sandy-esque storm that's snow.....power outage for 25 hours with temps in the 20s? Cant live in those conditions. And the high winds bring that cold right inside..... I think so, doesn't seem official (local observer?) but 36" is the highest amount I've ever seen listed for NJ.
  23. We mention it a lot here, we call it the Snowicane. Someone even made a username with that handle lol
  24. NYC got 20 inches with that storm. New England was mostly rain but had hurricane force winds.
