  1. So this is the storm that changes the pattern.
  2. Going to stay awake for the 0z EURO?
  3. Makes sense for why it's so hard to get it below freezing around here in midwinter even on a north wind lol. February 2015 was the polar opposite of this (pun intended!)
  4. This is awesome but the likes of Zuckerberg would be nauseous.... But wait, what's that on their faces, those wouldn't be 3D VR goggles would it?
  5. I believe in a healthy society, billionaires don't exist. The simple fact is no one needs that much money and there are people who can barely survive who deserve a much more equitable society. There needs to be not just a wealth tax but a maximum wealth cap for how much a person is allowed to make and keep. The rest of that money can be used to bring up people who are barely surviving. Since the 80s our society has rapidly become more disparate. Not to mention there are people like teachers and nurses who perform a much more useful function in society who are far more important than she is and who have to take on second and third jobs because of dysfunctional society. And if I owned those teams in either Buffalo or Baltimore, I never would have allowed her to even be in those stadiums-- and as long as she stays out her obnoxious and immature fans would stay away too.
  6. but it should-- at least we wouldn't see her on TV if that was the case what pisses me off is that people who do literally nothing to benefit society make this kind of money.
  7. all billionaires, including Taylor Swift, should be taxed on both wealth and income 99% and if they dont like it-- civil asset forfeiture.
  8. wait, I actually just remembered something about this season-- did we have a big arctic shot in early April when we were in the 20s even during the day with strong winds? I remember a deep arctic shot in April with clear skies and January type temperatures but no snow....
  9. I dont remember this winter at all because both 93-94 and 95-96 were so great.
  10. the one storm that winter and yet a coastal hugger so we changed to rain
  11. I concur but I wouldn't want it getting strong. Getting a weak to moderate la nina might enhance our snowfall chances.
  12. Yes, this has been happening the last few years. We even had an SSW last year and it didn't do much for us.
  13. Thanks, do you think we'll warm up into early March or keep this pattern? I think it was ANT, who posted the CFS which showed cold weather for the first half of March?
  14. Looks like the projected midmonth pattern change will coincide with a major SSW which will have its greatest impact in early to mid March, so the cold pattern might stick around for awhile?
  15. Have you read the material in the main forum about the Major SSW and the thinking being that the cold period will extend well into March because of it?
  16. A met in our subforum seems to think next winter may be neutral because he thinks the el nino staying strong later means there's a chance it might not become a la nina next winter.
  17. We can hope for either a 1995-96 or 2010-11 (or combo lol) Was 1966-67 cold neutral? That would be a nice analog since 1965-66 is getting compared to this winter.
  18. a very hot and dry summer followed by a cold and snowy winter is what usually happens when a strong el nino transitions to a la nina, those are my favorite combos. I loved 2010 and I'm hoping for a repeat.
  19. I've been reading that the CFS came in with a forecast for a cold first half of March too, all connected to that major SSW projected for mid month.
  20. and this is why I'm gungho about next winter even if it is a la nina, la ninas after el ninos do very well around here and 1966-67 was a very good winter (it wasn't a la nina but it was close to being one, and we have several other la ninas after el ninos that did really well here.) I also believe the upcoming summer will be very hot and drier than normal, which also happens after big el ninos. I love that combo!
  21. There's a chance this SSW extends that into the first half of March.
  22. They can keep that there.
  23. This is why it's being reported that the 1.5C threshold has been breached.
  24. a weak or even moderate la nina next winter after the el nino of this winter would be very good for snowfall, neutral not so much
  25. and you can have a dry month but with more snowfall than normal. 10 inches of snowfall is typically about 1 inch of rain. So if you have a month where half the precip is rain and half is snow, and a total of 2" liquid equivalent, that's 10" of snow and 1" of rain and it's a snowy month that's also drier than normal.
