  1. 12z Euro keeps the bulk of precip south of I-66. Looks like a Hurricane Matthew redux for the Carolinas?
  2. Pouring concrete early next week in Howard County. Hope it doesn't rain too much.
  3. PRE is Predecessor Rainfall Event. Essentially a rain event that is ahead of the main event. Sandy in 2012 had that on the Eastern Shore. The PRE for Helene is what did the Appalachian Mts. dirty. Source: https://site.extension.uga.edu/climate/2020/10/what-is-a-predecessor-rain-event-pre/
  4. FYSA, starting tonight several east coast WFOs will being launching 06z and 18z soundings until further notice.

  6. Uh, is that the HWRF trying to put 94L to near Cat 3 strength by HR 120?
  7. It's the anniversary of Helene, people in the southeast are justifiably on edge.
  8. Spread out over several days. Nothing too heavy. Perfect.
  9. The Euro / ICON would be a nice drought stopper. Not too much rain to flood anything out, but enough to put us back in the right direction.
  10. Prepping us for the winter rug pulls
  11. The HRRR has been insistent on convection initiating around the eastern pan handle region of WV close to 4-5pm. That seems to be the window for things to kick off.
  12. I'm going to be real honest, we're trying to pour concrete for more mesonet sites and we just need some windows of dry weather.
  13. Euro really has the mix line hugging I-95 though
  14. Need Sept 28th - 30th dry. Otherwise it can rain all it wants.
  15. That would be a normal winter anymore.
  16. Looks like a low level wedge of fog south and east of I-95.
  17. Watch us have a week of clouds with only a few winners in the rainfall department. This set up seems rather hit or miss. Would really like one day that's a regionwide soaker.
  18. Your work is valuable and I like it

  20. Poolesville mesonet site has recorded nearly 1" of rain in the past 24 hours, yet the 4" soil moisture values have barely moved. Plants must really be soaking things up.
  21. So far the HRRR is too dry south of I-70. Very happy for the rain. Things are so dry that our soil moisture numbers haven't budged even in southern Maryland where nearly an inch of rain has fallen.
  22. We did some things! CC: @wxmeddler
