Yeah, really wondering what they di with the gfs upgrade. Makes you curious to whether they felt there was still a cold bias and adjusted to that too much.

December 2022 Medium/Long Range Pattern Discussion Thread
Daniel Boone replied to Carvers Gap's topic in Tennessee Valley
I am in the same boat as you . Delayed changes always makes me skiddish and less confident. My guess is it will occur but, may be similar to the last cool spell in duration. Could be a cycle until the nina weakens and the MJO can excert more influence in the western PAC to change things up. It is possible due to that prospect alone, mid/late Winter may be better than many believe.- 582 replies

You can bet the weather outlets, apps and even most NWSFO's are going with the GFS . -
2022-2023 Fall/Winter Mountains Thread

Yep. Typically what happens when a block sets up. Models usually adjust south with Systems as well. Our biggest worry is a connect with the SER and -NAO. If that doesn't happen we may be in business in a week to 10 days snow wise. -

Yeah. That would definitely help and may very well be what happens as that has been the case this fall. Model's always have problems when blocking sets up. It's possible they revert back to sustained troughiness in the East like earlier depictions. Back in my day, over 90% of the time a -NAO led to cold in the East even while the West was cold. Recently, the SER/-NAO hook-up has been more prevalent. I may research and see if the occurrence is mainly during Nina's. I suspect it is. Makes sense.- 582 replies

SER and -NAO too strong for one ; allowing for easy coupling. Too bad the SER isn't further east out by the Sargasso Sea. That would allow cold to come further East even if they were connected/coupled. Hopefully, at the very least one will be weaker than modeleled and allow for a disconnected conduit.- 582 replies

This was the earliest leaf fall here in many years. The earliest I remember was 1976. Trees were bare by the first week of November. Maples began changing color by the 3rd week in August!- 582 replies

Yep, exactly what I feared. It's a shame we can't have -NAO setup while there's a -EPO and +PNA in place.- 582 replies

Yeah, I knew it is a nina response however, prefer it further east, ala 95-96 and other more favorable nina years with blocking. Miller b to A hybrids are pretty common in those. Agree on that TPV near Hudson.
-
It does occasionally.

Don't like those high heights in the Gulf. Hope that's exaggerated.
-
Better hope it's wrong actually. Don't won't a nao ser linkage, of which has happened a few times in recent years, and that looks close to a possible occurrence, imo. Used to be very rare back in the day.

Mid to Long Range Discussion ~ 2022
Daniel Boone replied to buckeyefan1's topic in Southeastern States
I've not looked but, sounds like a Miller B to Miller A transfer type. That happened several times in '95-96. -
Would be nice !

Picked up 0.99" here. Much of the heavier stuff stayed to my SW. It was a good soaking rain. Brings Monthly Total to 3.16". Over an inch below avg..

Mid to Long Range Discussion ~ 2022
Daniel Boone replied to buckeyefan1's topic in Southeastern States
I used to keep up with him but, he doesn't deserve any respect. All he does is rail others if they don't see things how he does or believe like he does. Calls other's terrible names etc.... -
