Snowfall totals from the Boxing Day December 26-27th, 2025 Snowstorm. Thank you everyone for the reports. I tried to include everyone here but some reports overlap or theres more than one for a location, so i did the best i could. This took a very long time, about 10 hours, so i may have made an error or two If there's any corrections let me know. This event will go up in the archive with sfc/h5/radar when they become available. The forecast for this was very solid. We nailed the ranges and lower snowfall amounts around the city and NNJ. The 6-10" area was a little higher and narrower than forecast, but overall it was pretty close. B+ for Tri-State. https://www.jdjweatherconsulting.com/tri-state-25-26 I created these brand new super maps by combining the Tri-State with SNE. These map also highlight all the airports in yellow to be easily seen. Here is the first map for the region. I went back and put together all the Lower Northeast maps for each accumulating event this season and they are here: https://www.jdjweatherconsulting.com/lower-northeast-25-26

oh your location under your avatar says Brooklyn fyi

definitely since Jan 7th 2022. We had 2-4"/hr rates that storm. I got 4.2" in one hour. Huge dendrites and zero wind will do that.

Is the 6 hour measuring guideline completely phased out now and no one uses it anymore? I typically only measure the depth at the end, unless its a long duration snowfall event or ptype changes over. This is from a PDF for snow measuring guidelines for NWS COOP from 2014.

I'm working on SNE, Tri-State, CT maps for this event all day today, and a brand new super map i put together for southern Northeast that combines tri-state & SNE. I went back on the past 5 or 6 pages and tried to include everyone here. But if anyone has any additional reports lmk now.

I really love that Dec 16-17, 2020 blizzard. Getting a 12"+ snowstorm during December is exceedingly rare probably the only time in my life I've seen one around here. Despite those 35-45" reports from that death band I was more than happy with what we got. And those gravity waves at the end were cool as sh*t. -

Connecticut Snowfall Totals. This is just a first pass map, there will be a more complete one coming with a full SNE map when i get some time over the next day or two. If there are any additional reports or errors let me know and ill look into it and fix them. Thanks to everyone who sent a report. Overall the forecast was very solid. Pretty much everyone fell within the ranges and the ranges were appropriate for CT. A little too high for Hartford, Tolland counties but that's about it, ill have a full picture once all the maps are done but m feeling an A- ish. -

7.3" final certainly happy with that...and it seems NNJ and NYC area didn't do that bad after all. Every climo site including NYC came in over 4" Highest CT Reports so far.. 10.5" New Milford 10.5" 3.1N Wallingford -
Really curious to see how this shakes out in the final map. After seeing all the reports this morning above 4" im thrilled that NNJ and NYC should all fall within the 3-6" range. Def gonna have to bring the 0-1 range back in the picture for Ocean Mercer and Monmouth it seems @Sey-Mour Snow
-
how much did you measure?
-
@WxDom 7.3" final 1WNW North Haven, CT 640AM. I saw a report of 7.3" in 2NW Hamden on the interactive map so that lines up perfectly.

Hey everyone let me know your final reports for anywhere in NY LHV into the city and LI and central and NNJ, Ocean and north. I went through the last 2 pages but it seems most aren't final yet. Should end up near 8" here.

Some totals around the area so far. Nearly all of these reports are old, and not final so be careful using this for verification i would say until about at least mid morning, afternoon. You can probably add 1-4 to a lot of these. @40/70 Benchmark I'll be putting a map together for this one as usual but have to wait for cocorahs and COOP this morning which usually report around 7AM. The good thing with this event is it falls under one reporting day for cocorahs 7AM-7AM so it wont be split over two like the December 14th event. If anyone has any reports in SNE that they want on the map you can tag me or pm me i got everybody before this post @Ginx snewx @Modfan2 @Brian5671 https://www.weather.gov/source/crh/snowmap.html -
thanks thats helpful to know for Brooklyn I dont know why this map has like 0 reports in NJ and around NYC. I know theres at least 1-2" there. I think upton does this thing where they dont post anything under 2, thats why you only see tenths of an inch and generally reports less than 2 in the PHI CWA. https://www.weather.gov/source/crh/snowmap.html
-
What a disaster that storm was for SNE. I might get close to the Boxing Day total when all is said and done.
-
Well ASOS already recorded 0.20 liquid and all snow, at least the hourly reports so i dont see how they could have less than 2. So it's gotta be at least 2" I,d say +/- 3" by the time it's done.
