  1. May we always retain an S of H, stay well all. As always .....
  2. Liberty, the attached photo is from a book titled The Christmas Tree At Rockefeller Center. A pictorial history of the tree. Ironically the forward of the book is by Willard Scott a TV weather person, it came out over 20 years ago. The photo below is from page 68, titled Patriotic Statement. The year was 1942 and conservation for the war effort was in effect. The trees, three of them, remained unlit, alive, root bagged for replanting. Each Norway Spruce was thirty feet high. The next year the same was done with a 55 foot Norway Spruce. I would like to see a resumption of the replanting tradition. I’m not a horticulturist and not even sure if it is possible with a live tree or if it was even successful during the years mentioned. To me that type of preservation is very Patriotic. 3. You may have to recuse yourself on this one, WW. As always ....
  4. My apologies. I was in my usual state of blissful ignorance until I checked some stats. Caribou had a little over 68 inches in 1961-62. Nearly 9 inches less than Baltimore’s 2010 totals. I couldn’t get the Caribou 2010 total. I believe Phineas will be a snow charm for both locales. As always .....
  5. Good thought and understandable. In the urban environment the Gowanus and Cross Bx expressways, even off peak, are more like automotive conga lines. As always ....
  6. Don’t fret, Phineas. The only way such a curse could verify is if Baltimore ended up with a higher cold season snow total than Caribou. That would force the Reaper to give room sanctuary to both DT and JB. There goes the neighborhood. As always ....
  7. Such expressive eyes. I wonder if the owl hitched a ride or just remained with its home while it was destroyed right under it. As always ...
  8. Morning, Julian, Irish. Our streets remained unsalted so I guess none of that was a major threat for the city. As always....
  9. Are these questions part of the “still alive” interview for room admission. If so, I hope there is a video record. As always ....
  10. Caution WW, from an old Consigliere, masks only cover some of the holes. Too many other entry points available in the above crowd. As always ....
  11. “You are what you eat” and if that’s the case, Phineas, they will do no more than live the metaphor. As always ....
  12. I had it done over 20 years ago. It was considered ambulatory and I was discharged the same day. A Canadian synthetic patch was used. No problems with anesthesia other than the fact that I woke up near the end of the procedure. It must have been no more than twilight. Like Fella says no real issues. I was back to work in a week. No recurrence ever. As always ....
  13. So True H2O. Yet while we call them lazy they consider themselves wise but negligent. As always ....
  14. For the informed S W’s that are well versed on terms, content and concepts you may be successful. For some of us ignorance is still bliss. We should stay happy, at least, until the first sun angle post shows up around December 22nd. As always ....
  15. Thankyou ELI. I read it. I understood it as best I could. To me it boils down to damned if you do, damned if you don’t. Unfortunately the Least Common Denominator is damned. As always.....
  16. At this rate I might even live long enough to pick my own fresh ingredient for my favorite Pina colada. As always ......
  17. WW, if the above Attorney has a much older, unattached Aunt, please let me know. As always .....
  18. Best ad for legal services I’ve ever seen. I’m working on an appendix for the KU volumes. It will be specifically on oak leaf drop. It will cover depth, drifting, wet, dry and fall/wind ratios. And thanks to the Mid A sub forum; a special section on the climate reality of leaf slides will be added. The appendix can be left as an unattached reading material in the P.R. Lounge or be given as an addition to the welcome bag. At worst the appendix can be read, at best it can be used in the facilities when the residents run out after reading another another cold season projection. I passed it on to DT for peer review. He’s a brilliant young man and gave me an honest, well meaning, sometimes poignant and a mostly 4 letter word review. As always ...
  19. I would guess he just offered to trade someone for a KU 2 day, dry powder 3 footer, with lasting power .As always ...
  20. Enjoy them while you can WW. That is before you have to morph into your other identity to go collecting. As always ....
  21. I had to go up to the row house roof for a leaf check and even at twilight the light pollution, from the Brooklyn skyline, was breathtaking. I forego the shorts because I do have consideration/respect for the ambiance of the surrounding area. As always ....
  22. Unc, I do remember that one. I was running a training unit for the USPS. NYC Morgan annex. I had passed through Penn station at about 6am and it was chaotic. The in coming system was already effecting RR transportation. I remember one of the units senior examiners, who had relatives west and south, arriving saying, I hope we’re ready for what’s coming. My last pleasant memory was shoveling after that 12+ hour day. As always......
  23. I believe you. Only in Heaven do you need a devils advocate. There will be no need for one as we are all roasting in .......... As always .....
  24. Tip what concerns me is that I read through your post and not only understood it but agreed with it, enjoyed it and ( get ready ) actually wished it was longer. It means to me only one of two things; either your losing your touch or I’m gaining mine. As always ....
