  1. Good evening S19, romba. Regardless of precipitation preference, it must take a strong character and a steel set of Joey Chestnuts to give and receive that many weenies without flinching. As always …..
  2. Good morning Liberty, Julian. It’s early so my mind fog is clearing. As a result I’ve remembered another of ‘my fathers oft used sayings’ to my then usual annoyance, “many a true word is said in jest”. Oh, Liberty, in relation to another post regarding mail delivery; in the 1940’s two digit district #’s were activated to aid in distribution. Before that all sorting was done by hand. Enjoy the mild day. As always ….
  3. Good evening Irish. I do manage to find my way around the Postage Stamp. I admit it’s been tricky at times. Stay well, as always ….
  4. Wait a minute, Liberty. All those posts with just two fingers …. If the forum Olympic post event ever gets made your a definite gold medal contender. Either that or you should bequeath one of them, preferably your pointer finger, to the Smithsonian. As always ..
  5. Good morning Unc. I don’t know where to start in praising your video archive of snow events. It would be nice if if the forum had a method of storing them for retrieval any time of the year, when needed. I will show this one to my two young Brooklynite grandsons. It sure ignites pleasant memories of my old Dyker Heights/Bensonhurst neighborhoods. From the seed pods ( itchy balls ) on the Sycamore to The quarter century plus vehicles to the finale with a young Joe Bastardi reporting on 10/10. He would often scan an ancestor/pre-cursor of this forum that DT posted on. That forum, sadly self destructed. Thank you Unc for opening the gate. I will continue strolling down the lane enjoying the memories. As always …
  6. Good afternoon forky. They are useful to confirm the virga. As always ….
  7. Good morning Gravity. At 31 and a USPS letter carrier I delivered two routes in residential downtown Brooklyn during that event. I remember shoulder bagging from relay box to relay box. After surviving that experience I knew I would last, at least, until my 80’s. A brutal storm. As always ….
  8. Good morning Irish. S19 made an interesting post on the existence of Solar Seasons. That added to Solstice and Meteorological. I decided to look further and found their are several more. One, as seen below, is just for you. Stay well, stay warm, as always ….
  9. Good morning Will. “Hodograph” that sounds exciting if a bit risk at. I might try but at this stage I’m probably better off not being able to. As always …..
  10. Good morning S19. This forum keeps chipping away at my mental block. I spent most of my life knowing solstice seasons, even though I often got the dates wrong. Then I was introduced to meteorological seasons, easier to remember at least. Thank you S19 for the intro to solar seasons. I never knew they existed. I looked into it and found Hindu reckoning in South Asia has six seasons. ( one for the monsoon ). At my chronological place this kind of exercise is beneficial. As always
  11. Good evening, Irish. Akin to my virility this is all thats left. Since it’s my postage stamp I can safely say and frosty agrees, snow pack cancelled. Stay well and warm tonight. As always …
  12. Good morning WG. I’ve noticed on the sub forums, respect for the professionals is constant. The New England group may throw weenies around, despite the tag, but their tens of thousands of posts to me evidence a different tolerance dynamic. In our forum an exception might be forky. With a few syllables he posts a lure and many times hooks a bonanza. Stay well, as always ….
  13. Just checked the street light. Snow is falling. Stay safe everyone. As always ….
  14. Thank you for that confidence. R in the RCL stands for Rich. I’d feel privileged if you called me that. My four grandchildren call me Poppy. I don’t mind even though it makes me feel like a bagel sometimes. Stay well, safe, warm and inside tonight. As always …
  15. Good evening Walt, Irish. I hope to live long enough to read your grandchildren posts along side of yours. Don can do the stats on the age/probabilities for me. Health, happiness and peace for you and your growing family. As always ….
  16. Why am I thinking forky would probably be the go to pro for this information. As always ….
  17. Dammit Liberty, now you’ve got me looking out the window.. As always ….
  18. Well put, Liberty. If he were still with us I wouldn’t be surprised to see a comment/observation from Rod Serling. As always ….
  19. Good evening Liberty. It may have been a different story if the bridge had been built. As always ….
  20. Your not alone Will. I just received a cease and desist requesT from the USPS. As always …..
  21. Good afternoon all. I consider my Postage stamp to be a Will - Rutgers micro climate. As always …..
  22. It seemed to work in “Cats”. “Look, a new day has begun”. As always ……
  23. I remember the same and enjoy hearing the tales of all who lived through it. I delivered two inner city mail routes in the 78 storm/blizzard. Stu in my 8th decade memory seems to become currency. Perhaps a little frugality is in order. Thank you for your response. Please stay well, safe and warm. As always ….
  24. Good evening Stu. Your concern is understandable and I would not question the validity of the points your making. I enjoy reading the geographic sub forums and find that each one seems to have a unique personality. The knowledge demonstrated by the red tags, well versed hobbyists and regular members inspires and amazes me. The 160 page thread, like the storm, was epic. To see so many, at least to me, new screen names and avatars taking part was enjoyable. Was their banter in the thread? Sure there was. Was I also guilty? Absolutely. Are the Moderators in control? Yes, continually. The moderators post, contribute and when necessary guide the product. In this forum, as in others, the Moderators are skilled in knowing when to tighten or loosen the control. Memories may be uninteresting but for some of us it’s all we have to share. There is a stand alone memory thread but sometimes a memory is an appropriate/good response in any thread. Thank you for voicing your concerns and also for listening. As always …
