I found a copy of Ludlum’s Early American Winter’s Volume 1 last year on Amazon. It cost me about $100, and at the time they had 5 copies. I am truly amazed at what’s in it!

Been under a decent streamer somehow for a little while. The road has turned white guessing we have close to a half inch now.

That’s great Powell! PTL those people really need it! I will be praying for your church and those people you are doing it for. Thanks for sharing that! -
I hear you! My location in the NW corner of Hamblen/Hawkins is the same way. Clinch Mtn downslopes me just about every time.

Have had really heavy snow beautiful big quarter and even larger flakes today but it’s just not cold enough to stick here. Looking at the higher ridge tops above 1,600 or so feet they seem to be the dividing line between the dusting (or more) around my area.

I noticed quite a bit of snow down by the lake (Cherokee) behind my house this afternoon. There is a cove where the sun doesn’t shine on part of the ground at all this time of year. That area had a large area of snow that was an inch deep still in spots.

Well my parents live in Birmingham now, so I will root for them to get in on it. Granted they are on the NE side of it. I still expect them to be impacted by it to some degree.

Was just noticing that too John! The Canadian worked back north a good bit that time from the get go back in OK and AR. It looked a lot like the 12z and 0z runs from yesterday

0z RGEM has the low on Sunday developing in central AL and crusing east to the lee side of the apps. Looks a little like the 12z GEM earlier today

Wow what a storm! That was a great jog down memory lane guys with the 93 stories! I lived in Jackson, MS at the time and we picked up about 3.5in at my house even there. My Aunt and Uncle on the northeast side of Birmingham picked up 18in. He said he couldn’t even get the doors opened for awhile. Had to have help from some neighbors to get the snow away from the door. As impactful as the 93 storm was in March though, I gotta think that the results in January would be even more extreme! If you take that storm and put it in January, the low temps would be well below zero for several days and the high temps might not move much from the lows for a day or two. The snow hung around in March 93, but got to think it would hang around a lot longer in January!

I thought the regular (non AI Euro) at 18z also looked pretty good for Sunday here in E TN as well. Pops a Lee side low after the main front goes through and has a nice mini system. The GFS has it too, and it’s not much, but it’s something and it’s only 5 days out now.

Looks to be that way here as well. Just under an inch right now and flake size just struggling. Seems like this storm was probably just further south than the modeling indicated. That, and the dry air around here. Congratulations to the southern valley though! They deserved a good snow!

NAM looks a lot better!

It’s literally been above freezing here only a brief period Monday morning through about 2PM. Otherwise, we’ve been below freezing since last Friday night to Sunday, which featured the ice, along with Monday afternoon till current. Everything is frozen extremely solid. All the ponds around here are frozen with a layer of snow on them from yesterday. I also noticed this morning when I was getting some water from my faucet that the excess water froze immediately on the concrete driveway and this was right by the house. Normally it might take a few minutes but it froze immediately. I thought yeah, this is how fast the roads will ice up tomorrow. As the old saying goes, it will stick better than melted butter on a biscuit!

It was 13 here for a low but back up to 15 now. Colder than forecast by a few degrees and 13 is my coldest so far this winter.

HRRR-“Hardly Recognizes Rain on Radar” is what I call it. I guess snow in this case. It can be good but there’s a reason most of its runs only go out 18hrs. It’s terrible beyond that and sometimes not good on current initialization.
-
Yes I thought the same thing. It’s pretty much been that way here too and these are big flakes. Usually when moisture is limited, the flake size is not good, but we’ve had more nickel and even quarter sized flakes at times than I would have thought. The problem is it just doesn’t last long enough. Todays high has been 27 here after 17 this morning.

Looks like it’s out. 3:50
