    Knowing the GFS, it probably won’t find it tonight. For the Christmas storm, it literally took it till the day before, before it began to understand what was going to happen. Really it was 12z the day of the event before it fully caught on. That model struggles so bad these days!

    RGEM also coming back some from 18z. Looks better for NE TN. Also better for the plateau and some other areas of eastern Middle TN

    Looks like we have been at or below freezing since about 4:30 Thursday afternoon. Today should warm up into the 40’s, so it will end the streak of freezing or below freezing temps. I’ll have to look back, but I’m thinking it’s been since 2018-2019 since we had a stretch below freezing of that length or greater.

    Bottomed out right now at 6 degrees here at the house. Looks like MRX is at 8. Definitely the coldest since 2018. We didn’t break into the single digits at all last year. The power of snow cover! Edit: I said they were at 8 bc that’s what the current observation was around the time I wrote it. I guess they went with 9 instead.

    Here was our storm system this AM on satellite. Look at how sharp the back edge of the system was! I don’t ever recall such a well defined storm like that. It’s nearly perfect. Also looks like it was tilted for sure. Maybe feeling the NAO block? Anyway I thought this was cool.

    Got back home from my in laws in Bristol. I 81 was mostly fine with just some patchy snow here and there. The side roads were covered though. When I got back I see that we picked up about 3/4in in those heavy bands that pushed through. That brings my total for this storm to 4.25in. My in laws though really racked up as they had 7in!

    It’s just ripping here in Bristol VA at the in-laws right now! No joke I bet they’ve had an inch in 10 min! Super impressive The walkway you see was shoveled clear when we got here. Now it’s disappearing under the snow! Looks like they have a little more than 6in right now

    Just had an very heavy streamer come through Morristown but I wasn’t there to see it. I talked to a buddy who said it probably laid down another 1/2in! Instead I was driving through some pretty heavy off and on snow showers on the way to my in laws in Bristol. In some cases it was just about whiteout conditions!

    Somehow I finagled almost another half in out at the tail end. Finished with 3.5

    Just crossed the 3in mark but it’s winding down now. It has definitely been one of the best snowfalls I’ve ever seen! Temp is really going down now though I’m at 25 degrees!

    Have around 2in here in town so far and coming down so hard it’s like a fog of fine flakes! Everything including roads in the subdivision are covered now. Is this real, I feel like I’m dreaming, it’s a real live Christmas miracle!

    Just switched over in Morristown. We went in for a candlelight service and walked out to pouring snow!

    Not very often to see our area hatched for heavy snow possible!

    MRX getting aggressive on snowfall totals overnight! Must be looking at banding potential. The map they have looks nice for the eastern valley and their zfp grids look nice. For TRI they have a total snow accumulation of 3-9in! For Hamblen Co they have 2-6in!.

    Add the WRF-NMM. Looks a lot like the 3k NAM. Think the hi-res models may be on to something.

    It’s actually posted on the previous page. It was a very nice run for sure. Probably the best yet by the euro. It looked similar to the rgem, just a little less.
