  1. I have an advisory for 34 and rain. This winter sucks lol
  2. Was it this area that was the snowanus? It showed up well on the Euro.
  3. Is this for tomorrow? Where are we talking about that? Can we get some threads lol. Gfs looks like tomorrow is congrats NYC.
  4. Wasn't expecting a morning snow hike. Well.. here i am. Deep winter is moving in FOOKS!
  5. Radar sw of DC is increasing. Those of us east of DC look to get a burst of heavy sleet or mix precip.
  6. If winter in the lowlands was a picture of a boat cover lol
  7. Nothing here in the lowlands. It doesn't matter anyway because it's not cold out today lol. My point and click looks impressive starting Friday. I thought i had it set for Lacona NY lol.
  8. Someone mentioned living in the "Snowanus" of MD a few days ago. That's definitely one I'm stealing lol
  9. I miss last January. Here in the lowlands alone the South River the wetlands all froze solid. The tributaries froze up pretty nicely as well. I think it was 2018 we had a lot of ice in the Mid Bay region.
  10. When I was in 9th grade I would stare at the sky with my mouth open waiting for something interesting to happen. This kid already is head of the NWS lol
  11. Back in the 90's I thought that area was snow central. 200+ a season lol. Same with Carroll County. Carroll County always jacked while my county would be pouring rain. You know "east of the cities" was a hell scape. That's when we use to get ocean storms. The past 10 years it's been luck over elevation. I'm sure here soon the worm will turn and I'll get driving rain while you brag about how it's the best snowstorm in years.
  12. They are nice. I'm just frustrated lol. Wasn't that beast in 2003 an overruning event? It dumped all day long as the moisture overran the boundary. Then the low came up the coast that night and dropped 3" of sleet on top of 20 inches of snow.
  13. Have we ever had an overruning event? I always hear how that our easy way to snow yet the last i remember was maybe 2003. Before that like 1993 lol. Moral of my usual pointless posts is that there's NO easy way to snow this far south with like 5 feet of elevation lol
  14. You really need to get off the keyboard and go get yourself some snow. I'll be on the Tug in a week or so. What's your kink? Snow on snow? Snow falling super hard? Snow flakes tickling your nipples? Dark digital blue? The Tug can do it all for you lol
  15. Totally fair way to think. On the positive. This is how most of our storms go. They seems to jump into the mid range and get better as we close in. The big one with long leads are super rare. My gut likes this one especially for the lowlands and east.
  16. We work as a team. You'll be seeing me as well lol. Katabatic is a great guy. We had a blast on our last chase. He's become a lifelong friend. I look forward to you joining us at Snow Camp! I like everyone here. I even really like JI. I'd let him join me on a chase. No complaining on the Tug Hill though lol
  17. Thanks. I didn't want to clog the main thread but didn't know how to move it lol. I appreciate the great idea. I never really considered a rain hike up there. I do rain hikes a lot at my local spot (Bacon Ridge). It's so peaceful during a spring rain hike.
  18. That sound fun. I never really considered a rain hike up there. That would be cool in a tropical remnant environment. Like a mountain tropical rainforest hike. Probably a way better chance at that than a blizzard these days lol
  19. True. The maga drought isn't helping. The Shenandoah mountains have been a tinder box the past couple visits I've made out there. I wanted to climb Stoney Man in the snow this winter but that hasn't happened.
  20. It's mind blowing honestly. You'd think just being higher elevation would mean at least some snow. What happened to high elevation snows on out mountains? That's been nonexistent forever.
  21. Whats up with this? I've been watching the Shenandoah mountains for a snowing hiking trip for years. 4k plus mountains that never get snow. I've had more snow here alone the bay than Big Meadow at like 4500' elevation for the past 5 years.
  22. Yeah. HGR to Frederick has been basically north Georgia for years. In the 90's that area was the Tug Hill of MD. I knew the lowlands wouldn't have winter this season because the past two winters had a short period of winter. My plan was to spend a lot of time this season hiking in the snow in the Catoctins. I've had more snow here near Annapolis then them this season.
  23. I'm going back to Lacona. Life is to short for waiting on a 10 day unicorn. I've gotten interest from a couple others. I know a spot with 4 units in the same camp (sled camp) at 1400 elevation on the upslope Tug Hill. We could do a Mid Atlantic snow chase. Guaranteed snow.
