  1. Photos from Snowdonia
  2. Staying in a cottage on a Welsh farm near Snowdonia. Internet is spotty but here are a couple photos- one of the cottage and another of a typical scene from Snowdonia. I'll post a few more in the next day or 2. Temps mostly in the low to mid 60s. Only a few days in the 70s and one that hit 80 the whole time I have been in the UK. Back to reality late next week.
  3. This. I said it when he blew that save before the all star break- another game the Orioles managed to get lucky and pull out the win- he simply cannot be trusted in a big spot, and that's pretty much the only requirement for a closer.
  4. The Os have not been very good over the last few weeks, and coming out of the break they remain in a funk. It doesn't appear they are willing to include any top prospects in potential deadline deals, so I guess we will see what they can get in return for players like Mullins and Mountcastle.
  5. Another shot from a hike in the Peak District. Off to Snowdonia on Friday.
  6. @vastateofmind One more for you. Hoping to get to Snowdonia the end of this week.
  7. Couple shots from the Peak District. Weather is incredible here.
  8. From the latest ENSO blog. https://www.climate.gov/news-features/blogs/enso/july-2024-enso-update-summer-vacation
  9. 2.7" for July at my house. Happy to get the recent rains so the plants aren't in peril while I'm away.
  10. 0.83" Mid 70s here in the UK today, and 80 tomorrow. Back into the upper 60s for next week.
  11. Temp down to 96 at 330. Looks like a high of 97.
  12. I cannot say strongly enough how happy I am to be missing this. Fun to monitor from afar. Going to take a long walk in a bit with a hell of a buzz and will probably wear a light jacket.
  13. H5 is not overly impressive for big heat but lower levels reveal west/sw wind with downsloping/compressional heating, plus it is mid July and ofc that other thing we really shouldn't mention here. We cook so easily anymore.
  14. 97 at home approaching 130 EDT. Hottest temp of the summer by a degree so far. Might make a run at 100 which would be the hottest I have ever recorded here- that said my station gets sun soaked for a time early to mid afternoon so I usually go with the period from around 3pm onward for the actual high when it is back in the shade. Hopefully I remember to check it but I have lots of nice local beers to drink and I am off to a good start so we shall see.
  15. Drinking a Double Tonka Frappe Coffee Stout from Vocation Brewery for my second HH beer of the day. Pretty good stuff. A tad sweet- leans towards dessert stout. @nw baltimore wx @vastateofmind
  16. 93 at home. 63 in the Manchester UK burbs at just after 5pm. Drinking a Northern Monk Heathen Hazy IPA. Heat wave on the way here-mid 70s the next 3 days. Could approach 80 on Friday.
  17. Kimbrell simply can't be trusted in a big spot. That was pretty much a must have game. Luckily they managed to get the win.
  18. 1.24" at my house. I'm guessing it's pretty much over. Places not too far southeast must have gotten 3"+ based on the radar depiction every time I took a peek. Glad I got that half inch a few days ago. In decent shape for probably a week with the upcoming heat if it doesn't rain again. Hopefully those places further west that really need it can get some good storms later in the week with the frontal passage.
  19. Os are in a funk. Pitching needs major help and now the offense has gone cold. All star break cant come quick enough. No excuse for them not to go all out to get the additions they need for the stretch run, but they will have to be willing to give up a couple of quality prospects. They have plenty of capital to work with.
  20. 0.76" today so far at home. Mostly cloudy day here in the UK with some showers moving in this evening. Temp of 57. Can definitely say I don't miss the heat and humidity one bit. Glad to see the rain at home since I can't water the plants from here.
  21. Stalled frontal boundary, location on the western side of a strong high anchored over the Atlantic, and an upper level disturbance tracking northward in the flow to further enhance lift. Should be some prolific rainfall rates at times with that setup.
  22. 58 here outside of Manchester just after 6pm local time. Amazing change pre to post flight. Left with HI of 105 and arrived with wind chills in the 40s this morning. According to my weather station my yard picked up 0.54" of rain with a line that went trough overnight.
  23. WPC has a slight risk of excessive rainfall east of I-95 Friday into Saturday. Wouldn't be surprised to see that expanded westward some. Depends exactly where the front stalls. Guidance continues to indicate some h5 vorticity moving northward in the flow around the west side of the Atlantic ridge, and that could pull the boundary westward a bit. Looks like a possible setup for training convection.
  24. Keep that heat dome over central Europe.
  25. 78/76 here. Move at all and sweat profusely. I get to escape the perpetual heat for the rest of the month. Blast off this evening from Philly, where the HI will be 105 today.
