2001 had one of the warmest 5 day periods from Aug 6 - 10th. 2005 was very hot in other parts of the region , NJ had 3-4 days in the 100s and a very sustained hot streak in Jun. 98 was on the cooler side each of the 3 months Ju-Jul-AU 1987/1988 were both very hot, 1989 near even.

Deer flies as much as I hate them Don't do as much a damage as Black flies. Mostly bite my hands when I'm riding my ATV in the woods. Once you stop and start working the numbers decrease.

Yeah man they are brutal . Every 5 AM summer run they just hammer my head and neck . Being as heavily wooded as this area is.. they literally find me no matter where I am . They are super territorial too. They have small areas they fly and as soon as you lose one. Another one gets you .. and so on and so on . The one positive is as sweaty as I get , they don’t like that and generally don’t bite because of the salt . But the annoyance factor is enough to make someone gouge their eyes out with a grapefruit spoon.

The raw actual average temperatures have still never been able to eclipse the warming Chester County experienced way back in 1931. Minor cyclical warming is as always all the real raw data shows....

I’ve never seen a worse place for deer flies than NE CT woods. Those things are absolutely relentless until you kill them. Then the horse flies that are the size of nickels, but they aren’t as bad as the deer flies.
