I give it a golden winter award. Top 5 winter of my 47 year life. I was shocked yesterday when I was standing in intense snowfall rates. When the lightning streaked across the sky that was it. We received a golden winter award.

I had like 15" over several hours, but some spots had like 2'...insane rates. Ayer, MA had like 8" in an hour. If everything lines up, you can get some crazy dynamics with the amount of moisture available, but the warmth that comes with it is often prohibitive.

I wondered why you haven't mentioned chasing when you've had several opportunities to fairly close by recently. I'm like you about the hordes of chasers. I remember when I could go on a chase in Indiana and be the only car out there. Jackstraw is seriously right about the other chasers being more dangerous than the storm itself. I will still do it if it's within an hour's drive though.

TBH….it really is a Big Dog or prefer nothing this time of year. The cold will be bad enough so you can keep your wind whipped inch

I had one great event just before Xmas, but other than that it was a nightmare.

yep too many people speaking in absolutes...this winter proved them wrong

that was the worst winter ever for me i think we got a surprise snowstorm late in March otherwise there was no snow at all. I don't want to see that again, it was miserable! the snow wasn't even predicted it was supposed to sleet and rain but a surprise came in early am and we got 5 inches

Snow in DJFM, more than 20 days with snow otg, a long duration Arctic outbreak, and above avg snowfall for the season. Not sure what grade I'll give this winter but its going to be high.
