Yeah anything past the hobbyist level you really pay for. I had 0.02” this morning so figured I was good. There must’ve been a really good one on the side that got dislodged by the +RA. Torn between toothpicking the hole when it’s done or just letting it saturate through. Toothpicking would give me some error since I’d miss some tips. I forgot to put the stratus out there too. I love these laser disdrometers for that reason. Plus they can estimate liquid water content of snow pretty well without taking a core. But the flip side is I just dropped 11 grand for that plus the data logger and the enclosure. So not really practical.

Range folding literally bisected the little "couplet", or at any rate, g2g shear region, on ENX. Box wasn't range folded I don't think but you're right that the radar is pretty useless for what could be, theoretically speaking, some low level spinup. As for me I've been in a holding pattern around storms in the DFW area for the last hour. Glad we had a lot of gas or we'd have diverted to Little Rock by now.

It was so damn windy the annual Rappahanock Rivah Regatta had to stay off the water today. Sailboats. Too much wind in late May... when we're almost always concerned with too little. Lol
