I think that's a law of nature, if you have such extreme heat there has to be a cool down in between to give the heat time to reload. With higher humidity you don't need that because the elevated mins create more warmth.
-
All it does is is rain Lee it's it's crazy
-
.66 inch of rain here in latest event
-
We also had cool downs interspersed, not just lower minimums.
-
Got an additional .15" from a pop-up around midnight. That brings my total to .65".

2025-2026 ENSO

That's an exaggeration. Maybe since mid-May, but March until up to mid-May (outside of the Nor'easter on 4/11-12) was one of the warmer times of the year so far. We had 80+ the last 3 days of March. That stuff does not happen in a cool pattern! If we've been in a cool pattern since the last week of March, then 2025 would be on track to being the coldest year in a very long time, since the winter (January and February) wasn't that warm to begin with. -
Rainfall .64" here last 48 hours. On the upside my lawn has never looked better.
-
Your heat has been off since early April lol Unless you sleep in a tent outdoors and you're referring to an electric heater
-
Hey we lived here back then, we didn't have AQI > 150 like we have now almost every other day back then.
-
hopefully this heat is just the appetizer with the main show coming in July.
-
No look at air quality data was a lot worse back then
-
you know how I feel about average temperatures lol only below average because the air was drier and so the mins were lower, but the heat was all time record breaking
-
Yeah it’s here. We are losing winter and gaining summer and they can’t handle it.
-
july and august 1953 were below average
-
Like the idea that the recent rains here and over a large extent of areas to our west and southwest keep the dews up making the upcoming heat more oppressive. Also like idea that recent rains here and possibly a 1" event before the heat arrives keeps max temps a few degrees lower than what they could be.. Either way if you like it cooler enjoy what we have now.
-
more ground air pollution in 1993, 1999, 2010 and 2011? I think it's worse now with more people driving lol
-
1953 was also wild with 6 100+ days and 4 100+ days at NYC including two historic heatwaves as well as our longest heatwave in history that included the all time record high of 102 in September !!
-
Yeah the days of nights in the 40s in the radiators in July seem gone. It’s been a while since we’ve seen one of those patterns where it actually cools of at times with dews. Now it seems to get down to average mins once in a while (like 52F here).

0.52” of rain since midnight and 0.76” so far on the weekend. Month total now at 2.90” and YTD sits at 22.51” in Lebanon .
-
There was a lot more more ground air air pollution back back then which which made it it feel hotter
-
are you sure this isn't from traffic congestion? the 2020s really have not felt anywhere near as hot as 1993 or 1999 did or 2010 or 2011 for that matter. scientifically speaking it's much harder to get extended or extreme heat because of more water vapor in the air, so it really hasn't been as hot as it was in those years. By the way, I was looking at wunderground a lot this past Thursday and one of those micronets reported a high of 97.5 right near JFK..... maybe they are running hot as JM said that day?

I remember freezing my butt of at a ball game there in June one year, went for three games, wore a sweatshirt for the last two.
