Rain has started here and wind really picking up.

Widespread 45-50 mph; but with the low-level jet racing just overhead I think you can't dismiss quite a few 50+ gusts; focused on southern third of CT; coastal plain and hills of northeast and northwest CT. Playing with fire with that low-level jet making 2 passes over us... any hint of slightly destabilized low-level atmosphere, convective elements and it's off to the races. If the daylight hours Saturday stay mostly rain-free we could add some sneaky warming into the lower levels??? I know many setups under-perform, but there are some impressive items in play here. Add fully leafed trees (heavy wet leaves), and things could go south quickly, unless everything shifts south.

With the clear skies to the west, a large part of New England was treated to an epic sunset. Similar to an off short hurricane with a big cirrus shield. Up here in Central NH it was high cirrus but as you got into the deeper moisture and virga I guess rainbows were an added bonus.? Enjoy your storm down there. The Whites to my northeast should keep me in some type of orographic shadow as it usually does with strong NE flows. Maybe this will be more easterly winds? I will take any rain I can get.
