  1. Past hour
  2. Trying to sneak in an early tee time Saturday am. GFS, NAM, UK say sure. Euro, CMC, RGEM say no. I feel like I know where this is going…this spring needs to die.
  3. Back around 1980, I won the department's contest for first 1.0 " of snowfall, well, almost. I used historical data, finding a pattern like that December, and sure I enough, I hit the date. Everyone thought I had won, but the Professor measured it a few hours after the snow ended, so it had time to compact and melt, yielding just under an inch. So yeah, discrepancies galore...
  4. OT but Fairbanks today (technically tomorrow with sunset 12:39AM) has 2 hours and 23 minutes between sunset and sunrise.
  5. This are two near JFK, 93.0 lol https://www.wunderground.com/dashboard/pws/KNYNEWYO2050 93.0 https://www.wunderground.com/dashboard/pws/KNYNEWYO1657 93.0

  7. Retired in December and it's great. Entered the water today at Winnisquam for the first time (other than put the dock in on Memorial Day which was miserable) and it was actually quite - surprisingly - comfortable.
  8. Their station is outside of the big buildings in the city anyway at Rutgers-gardens I believe ( I might be wrong though). I know for a fact it was running high like a decade ago but I think mgerb told me it was fixed. Since I moved away from Piscataway I don't pay as much attention to it anymore. edit: found an old pic (I think it looks a bit different now), but I think the station is in the same location as this
  9. most models are warmer than that-but yeah still cool for mid June
  10. I am in a suburban part of Queens east of Central Park and I am 6 degrees warmer than them lolol come on now
  11. So frustrating during the weekend, terrible. I guess I'll be heading to Caribou, ME to avoid jacket weather lol.
  12. During the day? I don't think there is much difference in daytime highs between rural and urban locations. The differences show up when the Sun goes down.
  13. Having worked in New Brunswick, that city is at least 5 degrees warmer than the immediate surrounding towns on any given day. Not saying CP is accurate but NB might not be the best example The amount of high rise buildings under construction will only help to jack those numbers.
  14. really weird feels like summer out! 84 here

  16. But they're hotter than Orlando which is even further inland and to the south.
  17. Jacksonville is about 15 miles inland. Makes a huge difference.
  18. Islip McArthur Airport is actually in Bohemia which is more akin to mid island. I'm not sure that NYC would be hitting 30 90 degree day averages, because even before the vegetation issue in the late 90s and beyond, the early 90s heat was not as extended as our heatwaves were in the 40s and 50s. I think our climate is becoming way too moist to sustain 95 and 100 degree heat on the level we saw back then until we warm up to the level of Jacksonville, FL.
  19. Today
  20. I'd like to limit games to three pitchers per game per team and limit rosters to 10 pitchers, the bullpens have become way too dominant and take up most of the team.
  21. We dont have a summer banter thread. But I thought this looked neat. 4 seasons look into my backyard (didn't have a good spring pic other than late spring).
