2026-2027 Record-breaking El Nino

A couple of guys online, Ryan Hall and Mark Margavage, seem to think the -PDO could have a colder influence in the east because the monster GOA low that triggers the huge Pac jet may not be. I don't think that make sense....-PDO/El Niño is worse heights are higher in the se and any cool ENSO influence is like a Modoki La Niña constructively interfering with east-based El Niño, so the any Aleutian riding would likely not be poleward. Weenie-logic. I'm with Chris on that. -

"We had vandalism. Vandalism—all you know, we have a—hundred—and we have a, I think, 290, 300-foot slit right through it. Probably a box cutter or a knife of some kind." "We had a 40, maybe 50, I'd say 60 mph wind. It's ripping!" -

Finally some beautiful weather starting tomorrow for a few days. Dig those shorts back out! Here a few miles S of Prince Frederick we got 2.9 inches from the system a week ago, and about a half inch from the noreaster. Aug and Sept have been great after months of severe drought.

With the nor'easter finally moving away, drier weather lies ahead. Already, the clouds are breaking across the region. Tomorrow and Wednesday will likely see some sunshine along with warmer readings that will reach the lower and middle 70s. The ENSO Region 1+2 anomaly was +4.7°C and the Region 3.4 anomaly was +3.1°C for the week centered around September 23. For the past six weeks, the ENSO Region 1+2 anomaly has averaged +4.40°C and the ENSO Region 3.4 anomaly has averaged +2.83°C. Both ENSO regions have set new all-time records. The ongoing strong El Niño, will continue to strengthen through the mid-fall. The SOI was -13.55 today. The preliminary Arctic Oscillation (AO) was +0.083 today. Based on sensitivity analysis applied to the latest guidance, there is an implied near 98% probability that New York City will have a cooler than normal September (1991-2020 normal). September will likely finish with a mean temperature near 68.5° (0.7° below normal). Supplemental Information: The projected mean would be 0.5° above the 1981-2010 normal monthly value.

One rather strange thing about Polo is despite multiple ERCs/structural changes it remains a relatively compact hurricane. In fact the code has remained roughly the same size throughout its life

With the hit or miss heavy echoes, no different than a winter storm.
