We don't have 6 to 7°C cooling per kilometer this evening and these storms aren't maintaining vigor quite like they've been the past few nights. I stayed up all night last night watching lightning and listening to thunder. Even had the hallmark bookend vorticity. Unfortunately, when it exited that small finger of better low-level lapse rates, it just couldn't maintain that kind of storm vigor.. Here is a look at the final statistics for Summer 2026 from the Susquehanna Valley's official NWS climate site - Harrisburg International Airport (HAI). We had 3 days with highs in the 100s. The last time we had 3 days or more in the 100s during a summer season was 1999. Even though we had some incredibly hot days, we were only 0.8° above average for the whole season. This places Summer 2026 as the 15th warmest on record (out of 139 years). Summer 2026 was dry for some and wet for others in the Susquehanna Valley. At Harrisburg International Airport, it was dry with only 9.05" recorded all season. This is 3.44" below average and places Summer 2026 as the 47th driest Summer on record (out of 139 years). NOTE - some areas across the Susquehanna Valley saw very heavy rainfall due to scattered showers and thunderstorms. Highs through the weekend will be in the mid to upper 70's and lows in the 50's for most spots with some 40's possible in our coldest valley locations by Monday morning. I was reading over tonight's Nws forecast discussion and was delighted to hear that we may return to a ring of fire pattern later next week. The good news for most of you reading this is that I haven't heard mention of that possibility anywhere else to this point. The spc does mention the return of thunderstorms in the northeast and mid atlantic next thursday but doesn't give any mention of any anomalous ridge and believes the best large scale assent will remain north of the continental border. At the intersection of Buena Vista Road and Mount Vernon Road, another tree was uprooted and a telephone pole was bent. It continued south to the east of Mount Vernon Road where it crossed Pequea Creek, snapping many large branches and uprooting a few more trees. Past the creek, another clump of trees saw large branches snapped before the tornado dissipated in a field. This damage continued towards the intersections of Dingman Road and Bloody Run Road, where concentrated areas of snapped and uprooted trees continued to be observed. There was another eyewitness that noted multiple trees uprooted at their residence on Dingman Road with what appeared to be a convergent pattern. As the storm continued into Marshlands, multiple large branches as well as uprooted and snapped trees were in a convergent pattern, with surrounding vegetation also outlining a convergent pattern. The tornado likely continued to parallel Elk Run Road just south of the roadway before dissipating on the north side of the intersection with Straight Run Road.
