The “I bring the mojo” Jan 30-Feb 1 potential winter storm

Currently about 7 to 8 inches here in North Charlotte, and I'm loving it. I've been worried since I was forced to move from Greensboro for work that I would always miss storms like this with sleet and freezing rain. So happy to see it in the RDU area; it's coming. It all has to pivot east, I hope. If I recall correctly, the Carolina Crusher that bad boy dumped 20 inches in like  7 hours. Maybe people can correct me on that. I was ready to be happy with 2 inches of wind; you never get to see that kind of stuff around here. Anyway, y'all get out there and enjoy it. And one last thing, don't be like me and almost get frostbite, lol. Love posting and reading here so I hope we all get dumped on !

All I'm going to say this is first time since 2022, CLT has seen consistent snow.  I don't know why some Triangle (Raleigh/Wake County) posters are complaining and crashing out about the dry slot. There were reports of snow there 2 weekends ago in Raleigh when it was cold rain in CLT. CLT always gets shafted by the mysterious dry slot more often by these types of coastal systems.  It is what it is. The Triangle posters are the majority here.  The roles are reversed in this system for the first time in a long time.

Im not really complaining this time around yet, but that snow 2 weekends ago was 15 minutes of mood flakes for me. Then last weekend was maybe .3” sleet and .1 zr. And now this.

Not true. Wake co is big from north to south. South Wake always gets shafted like u. But I am happy for u guys

Mecklenburg is a huge county too.  Davidson, Cornelius, Huntersville in North Meck will snow (which are 25-30+ miles from Charlotte City Center (Uptown), but CLT will get nothing at all.  They are all a part of the same Metro Charlotte (CSA) area including Hickory/Morganton (Unifour) counties. Snow there in the North, and rain and potential severe on the south in the same Metro here.  Topography can play a role in weather and deformation bands setting up more than one thinks.

Happy for everyone who cashed out! For those who didn’t, it be like that sometimes unfortunately. We still have 5-6 weeks left of winter down here and a lot can happen in that time frame. Just happened to be a very rare snowstorm for parts of NE GA, SC, and NC that hardly ever see any snow. I’ll admit I did think E/NE NC would get hit a lot harder, but damn that dry slot was no joke. I’ve been through many of those types of storms down here.

Normally the warm nose always gets us and areas to our north and west get all the snow, this time it happened to be completely opposite and we finally cashed in. This is the first time in my life that we have had back to back winter with more than 3” in each one. Last 4”+ snowfall, minus today, was January of 2011 for us. Long time waiting!

I mean I hate to be the bearer of HOPE and potential GOOD news for Raleigh...but the HRR increased totals from 2.5" to 3.8" over the next 12 hours. Between the 20z and 21z runs.

Both NAM's show even more than that and still aren't initializing with the current correct amounts.

RAP also puts down 2".

Keep me posted! It’s done here, topped out between 4-5”, 4.2” in MBY.

If it had snowed that hard since 10 am, we would have over 10 inches on the ground. It put down an inch in about 30 mins.

Yeah bro, that deformation band was absolutely no joke! Today was the heaviest snow I’ve seen in GA. I spent 5 winters in Michigan a few years back, and this was literally the same exact type of snowstorm that Michigan gets, almost regularly lol, with 20:1 ratios and it’s currently colder here than up there wind chill wise. 4° right now! I can tell you right now it’s way more enjoyable down here!

Man I feel for you. I’d genuinely be furious, more upset than a bad breakup, and wanting to never track winter weather ever again lol that’s literally the worst! I’m sorry brother! I’d legit probably take a hot shower and sit down and just cry
