Shot out a question to DonSoutherland regarding start times tomorrow with the cold dry air in place. It might take a little more time for the snow to reach the surface to what the models are showing. It depends on when the column saturates enough. Don agreed that it is possible. it has happened before, so we’ll see how it unfolds. Since the moisture is pushing all the way past Albany and into Adirondacks eventually I'm not as concerned as I normally would be with an airmass this cold and dry in place.

With these events it’s really shows how different it is up here in comparison to areas in & around NYC. In the grand scheme of things, we aren’t that far lol but weather wise we might as well live on the tug hill lol 2

ForestHillWx
My area seems to be close to where the transition could reach (discounting the NAM), but it should also be poundtown for a while before then. A solid 12+ is what I’m thinking for just west of MMU.

CPcantmeasuresnow
Not that I depend on the weather channel app for accuracy, but it is kind of cool to look at it this morning and see 22 inches of snow expected in the next 24 hours. Hope for once it's right.

I find myself drawn into it at times and inevitably getting drawn into some kind of minor confrontation with someone or other from Central, New Jersey or the jersey shore, speaking like they are representative of the entire forum. I usually come to my senses, then and walk away. It's best to just realize there's real weather going on out there. Why do I care that someone from Raritan is complaining that we, as in everyone, have not seen 6 inches of snow in the last 10 years.

Which had to equal 6 inches of snow? Or did you actually just get 4/10 of an inch of snow I ended up getting 12 inches from that storm as I'm about 15 miles south of you most of it coming when I was lucky enough to have one of those heavy bands south of us rotate over Highland Mills area for two or three hours. I remember even 6 miles north of me only ended up with 6 inches. That was such a frustrating cut off from that storm, while the city and NNJ got 30 inches. I'll usually just roll my eyes slightly. if I know them well enough, I will say something like yes maybe 5° during the daytime but 15 to 20° during most nights. That's why the winter month averages are 10° colder here. Even educated people don't get it. I apologize for the libertybell like responses this morning.

I certainly didn't get .40 in liquid, it was a total of .4 inches of snow, total, period, end of story. That sucked cause I knew not that far away was rather different. I didn't even have to shovel. Today, I'll need to shovel with snow falling and 7 degrees out there.

CPcantmeasuresnow
5.9°, heavy snow, 3.2 inches as of 9 AM. I'll take another measurement at 10 AM.
