No wind and snowpack is helping with the radiational cooling.

gravitylover Posted yesterday at 12:45 PM Share Posted yesterday at 12:45 PM Mornings like this really show microclimate details well. I see temps within 3 miles as low as -6 to as high as the 8° I have now. At one point right before sunrise the spread was 15°!

I was fun looking at the varaince in all of te local temps earlier this morning. -5 was my low, while Legoland, 7 miles away had a low of 3. I reference that one because they have a Davis station as well.

CPcantmeasuresnow
Hit -1 yesterday morning so it's good to get that out of the way for this Winter. I just got back from a long journey into the Main Forum. Such an odd place. Everyone seems to reference where they live as the only place that exists in current setups and past winters. It's good to be home. 1

Upton considered it but held off for now. It's coming. Not the biggest storm we've ever had but a major storm for sure. I love the snow storms on top of snowpack, it's a good season.

Models fairly consistent with totals rising leading up to the event. Fingers crossed.

I've seen a lot of 2 foot and a couple of 30-35 inches here. I don't think we can get to those levels out of this setup.

To take things out of our backyards for a moment, I get the feeling an impending disaster awaits a good portion of the south. Those ice totals = very much not good

It looks like a biggie but we've had some true monsters and I dont see one of those, not yet at least. I'm also a results guy. The NFL Draft is entreating to watch but don't mean jack if the players don't perform.
gravitylover
That warm nose is starting to concern me. It's prone to change to sleet here earlier than further west and stay crystally as that IVT they mention in the discussion gets it's act together. They are always concerning even when you think you're far enough north or west. With that said if this ended with just the last .10 of precip as sleet, I find that ideal for many different reasons.
BxEngine
Im going to AC saturday. Dont want to cancel. Considering just waking up early sun morning and heading back north, dont mind driving in a little snow. And id love for us to end as a tiny bit of sleet before the bottom drops out this week. Just not in the bronx please, hard enough driving around there without ice and smaller traffic lanes lol
