Snowing good here.  Was out before noon and the local roads were a mess.  Measured 2” an hour ago.  It’s got some density to it too.

We were out and about driving around so I wasn't home for the really heavy stuff. Finally got home around 6 and it was still just above 32 sone everything had compacted down to ~4". I wonder what it was... The roads were terrible during the inch an hour times, that was nice.

4.5” will do it here. Currently 27 and some icing up on spots. 00z runs are coming in a little more bullish for tomorrow’s event up this way. We’ll see.

3.4" here and melted was .28" - so 12:1 ratio snow.

Higher than I was expecting.

My 4.5" yesterday melted down to .39. Another snowfall on top of existing snow, love to see it. 27/26 with light snow.

It is difficult these days trying to find people that want to actually work and not be some social media moron. My wife's cousin, a few years older than me, has a well established hard wood flooring business. His partner is retiring soon so they've been looking for a young buck for years to teach the trade to and eventually sell the business to. No luck. Once someone is told to put their phone down and work they get turned off. The guy says he wished he was 20 years younger because all the guys that currently know the trade are retiring so whoever is left with the skill will be making a true killing in the future. Anyway, that doesn't solve the messed up roads again today. Maybe they were caught off guard again because everyone got used to storms often not panning out? This year has been different. Very light snow here, unofficial deck measurement of 1" new, 29/27.

They did a terrible job yesterday. All I can figure is they're already understaffed and it's a holiday weekend so people had already put in for the time off making it worse.

1.3 inches of new, 6.1 for the weekend, 24.7 for the season.

It's nice to have a December and January that look and feel like Winter is suppose to be.

I was out and about yesterday around noon and the roads were horrific.  Then I took a nap before heading upstate on the taconic around 4.  Roads were clear albeit wet.  Thinking it takes time for the plows/sanders to treat the network.  
 

for all the handwringing on the main thread, this winter is actually shaping up to be pretty solid.  Cold and other than the 2 thaws, a snowpack from thanksgiving to date.  And this will last at least into February.  Would I like a Ku, sure, but this is just fine in my book.

Yeah even if i end up below avg snowfall wise, we’ve had more accumulating snowfalls than the last few winters, it felt like winter more often (although the wind can fuck off) and the kids have gotten to go sledding a bunch already.

It’s been snowing since pre dawn, no break. It’s been very light at times but flakes falling all day. Up to 34/32.

1.8 new inches as of 1:00. Light snow continues. 0.4 inches in the last three hours. Snow rates have been light enough that it's now accumulating about as quickly as it compresses. 
 

No complaints though 6.6 inches so far this weekend, 25.2 for the season, 35th day of snow cover.
 

Not much to complain about, I'll take this over one 25 inch storm that melts in a week like 2016 in city and coastal plain.

40 inches is still a bit below average so I can't see that alone warrants an A. 

50 inches of snow and 50 days of snow cover. That's my A criteria for a Winter here.

If I were the boss I'd say ok...snap a few pictures of you and the family at the Key West monument with today's newspaper in the shot.    I honestly would do that if someone fed me a line like that.

That is like giving CPA's time off during tax season.  Should have restrictions.  

I know you were making a joke but wouldn't you think they would have some rules for time off in the dead of Winter?
