It's one thing to experience summer onset drought after planting and growing season but during planrting and growing season is disastrous. Feel for the farmers in my area...

EarlGrey Posted yesterday at 12:27 AM Share Posted yesterday at 12:27 AM I keep seeing references to summer 1977 being similar to this. Is that true? What happened that year?

Originally looked like it would break down this week. That certainly did not come to fruition as this weekends cold front will be dry

Didn’t bother to go back and look at records but I do remember the family’s annual Myrtle Beach trip first week of June. Everyone was commenting on how unusual it was to be in the 90s. Don’t remember much about the rest of the summer except a lot of Boston, Frampton, Marshall Tucker, and Jimmy Buffet.

Met1985
If you look at the indicies and the MJO everything seems to be trending towards a pattern shuffle.

NorthHillsWx
Very end of month continues to look like a breakdown of the ridge and much wetter pattern. Hasn’t really been can kicked which is good.
