Ecanem
Hey all. With all the crazy weather I’m sure like you guys. I’m always the ‘weather guy‘. So I decided to create a mini hyper local weather app. This combines: 1. my house tempest weather direct feed 2. hrrr data from gribstream 3. Google pollen api 4. nexrad level 2 5. open meteo aqi and pmi 6. Rainviewer (regional rain and satellite) 7. NOAA spc meso 8. GOES-East from Iowa state https://scarlett-weather.delightfulplant-db525447.eastus2.azurecontainerapps.io this is super beta and was a fun project with Claude code but I thought you guys would like it. I’ll probably put it on a domain sometime soon. It was really meant for my neighbors but would love weather geek feedback. 1

Yesterday it topped at 50mph before the power clipped out and the feed dropped. May have been a higher gust. It’s in a relatively good spot but still can be blocked from NW gusts. Burghblizz
0Z NAM with a mini-Namming, showing 6”+ with the frontal passage of the big Midwest storm Monday afternoon. As you would expect, that backed off a little this morning Will still be interesting to see if that’s just a little white rain, or if there can be a period of accumulating snow. TheClimateChanger
Up to 66F at PIT. If we can hit 70F, that would be the fifth 70+ day of the year already, which would match 2025, 2000, 1946 & 1876 for most on record. Little bit of weather trivia there.

Rd9108
Looks like we might get a repeat of what the east coast dealt with last week with their frontal snow. I think it was mostly in the 2-3 range.

Shaping up to a be surprise event I'm not expecting much accumulation, but I won't be mad if I see some moderate to heavy snow briefly. NWS did mention amounts increased again with 12z, it should help it will be late evening so sun angle won't be a huge impact, it will just need to overcome the warmer ground. Mailman
Mesoscale Discussion 0280 NWS Storm Prediction Center Norman OK 0513 PM CDT Mon Mar 16 2026 Areas affected...West Virginia into far eastern Ohio and western Pennsylvania Concerning...Heavy snow Valid 162213Z - 170215Z SUMMARY...A swath of moderate to heavy snow will spread north/northeast in the coming hours. Snowfall rates may locally increase to 1-2 inches per hour. DISCUSSION...Recent regional radar mosaics depict transient bands of moderate to heavy snowfall within a broader precipitation shield across the central Appalachians/upper OH River Valley. Surface observations under the heavier bands have been reporting periods of visibility reductions down to 1/4 mile. A broad swath of moderate snowfall will be maintained through the evening as ascent within the left-exit region of a 120 knot 500 mb jet continues to shift northeast. Increasing 850-700 mb frontogenesis will continue to overspread the upper OH Valley and provide more focused mesoscale ascent favorable for focused snow banding and periods of heavy snowfall rates. Although the strongest lift will likely be focused within the 850-700 mb layer, ascent through 500 mb will include a roughly 100 mb-deep dendritic growth zone. This will also help maintain moderate to heavy snowfall rates as surface temperatures fall below freezing within the post-frontal air mass. Based on latest guidance, snowfall rates over 1 inch/hour appear likely and may periodically be as high as 2 inches/hour across portions of PA and within the higher terrain of the Appalachians later this evening. ..Moore.. 03/16/2026
