dseagull
Ill make the claim now.... this is going to overperform on the mainland of barnegat bay. We have very strong sustained winds with frequent gusts over 50 now. The water began rising before low tide was reached, and its going to be a long night ahead until the 4AM high tide. Many boats will likely succumb to this storm, sadly... Then, my work begins. Brutal. 1

Picard
Looking solid for the coast now. Stay safe. We'll see how much of the remaining precip shield makes it west of 287 and north of 95 for some needed moisture. Otherwise it's just a breezy, damp, raw evening out this way.

dseagull
I am a bit of a radiohead. I have 3 scanners going with trunked talk groups on custom settings. All of ocean county towns have too many calls for me to keep up with. Trees falling and lines arching are the most frequent. This thing is NOT bombing out (thanks, Omega,) but the net results of the gradient squeeze are impressive. Updated to reflect reality of surface maps, dated or not.

Winds busier than they have been up here all day. Nothing dramatic but estimated 20-25 mph gust at times. Just a bit of mist in the air.

wthrmn654
Looks like I'll be bottoming out low tide at 2 feet above 0. Highest low tide all week now to see if the damaging levels materialize or not!
MANDA
This was not overplayed along the coast. Meeting expectations at a minimum. Especially for NJ beaches. LI power outages nothing to sneeze at either.

Krs4Lfe
I was surprised at how high the water levels were in Bayside Queens, along little neck bay. Surveyed them around 4:30, and then around 7-8 during low tide. Even at low tide, the water was covering about 1/4th of the jetty along Bayside marina. Very rough waters out there, some gusts to 40 mph this evening. Just rainy and breezy away from the water, but along north Queens shoreline it’s a totally different story. Apologies, im about to watch many neighborhoods get exceptionally wet here, as this system doesnt necessarily deepen, but the net results worsen. If I didnt look at the surface map you posted, id describe an incredibly different situation.
