Met1985
It does seem that we may stick with mixing a bit longer but the freezing rain potential is huge and severe.Sent from my SM-G998U using Tapatalk
calculus1
Then, it’s all sleet for those same counties until late Sunday afternoon. That would be a fantastic outcome for these areas. South and west of there, the freezing rain locks in much earlier.
Hvward
Going to be in an interesting spot at my house at 2900’ in Black Mountain. I have no idea how we do in these type events since I havent experienced one here. Hoping we can hang on to the snow and get a couple of inches before the sleet. Worried about the freezing rain as well here.

That last GFS gave Johnson City 3 more inches with the backside. It will for sure be under modeled.
gopack42
Can someone help me understand about plumbing/pipes in this situation? I have water turned off in my condo at the master valve inside my unit. Assuming power goes out so there's no heat, can pipes still burst? Should I turn the water off at the master valve and then drain the water by running the sink until there is no water flowing? I'm not a plumbing expert
Sw NC weather
Don’t worry if this weekend doesn’t work out for snow for us. The GFS gives us a casual 24”-30” next weekend.

Tyler Penland
I'm curious what the disconnect is between the NAM and the GFS on precip. They aren't even in the same ballpark on totals. That said, I remember a storm from a few years ago that was forecast to be a significant ice storm and the globals wound up way overdoing precip and we wound up with just scattered/spotty showers.

Met1985
12 minutes ago, Icy Hot said: It could happen but do any of us feel good about trusting the GFS any more? Yeah actually and especially at this range. The gfs does a much better job with flow snow than the Euro. Also with the cold air crashing in after the storm this is a classic setup for back side flow snow and I actually think the gfs is handling the storm at this range better than the euro.
