ChescoWx
Most spots across the western burbs have received between 0.50" and 1.00" of rain over the past 4 days with the coastal storm. Here in East Nantmeal we have picked up 0.70" of rain. We look to dry out and cool down over the rest of the work week with today being our warmest day till the weekend. By Thursday we will see high temperatures remaining in the 50's but with 70's possible especially in the valley locations by Sunday. We also see our next chance of rain by Sunday evening before we turn cooler again to start the new work week.

Birds~69
Not as warm as I thought it would be today. Between the clouds and the damn wind, it was rather cool. For some reason the sun decided to be bashful and only make a short guest appearance here and there...
Hurricane Agnes
Well I nickel and dimed my way to 0.38" yesterday with a 2nd round that took me to 0.32" from 0.30", and then another round to 0.38" for the day. This morning I had a surprising 0.08", giving me a grand total of almost 3/4" over 4 days (0.74") and 0.92" for the month so far. It bottomed out at 52 just after 6:30 this morning and hit 67 just before 3 pm for a high, after the skies cleared and the sun came out. Currently cloudy and 60 with dp 55.

ChescoWx
Below normal temperatures should continue for much of the next week with the exception of Sunday which could see some valley locations touch the low 70's. Our next rain chances look to increase by later Sunday with the next cold front. We turn below normal again to start next week.

ChescoWx
Many of our valley spots across the area saw lows this morning in the 30's with the lowest being our typical coldest spot up in Warwick Township at 33.2 degrees. While some higher spots like West Grove only made it as low as 42.8 degrees. There are a couple of below normal temperature days on the way both today and tomorrow before we moderate to near normal by Saturday and briefly above normal on Sunday before we chill down again to start the new work week. Next rain chances arrive on Sunday night with the next cold front.
ChescoWx Posted yesterday at 01:24 PM Share Posted yesterday at 01:24 PM Some of our colder valley locations saw temperatures again this morning below freezing. Here in East Nantmeal on the ridges of the Welsh Mountain anticline at 685 feet ASL we only got down to 39.1 degrees this morning. Another below normal day today with ridge locations struggling to get out of the 50's for high temperatures. We do warm over the weekend with temperatures reaching as high as the low 70's on Sunday before we begin another chill down next week with below normal temperatures by mid-week. We have some good shower chances by later Sunday into the evening.
ChescoWx Posted yesterday at 08:09 PM Share Posted yesterday at 08:09 PM Now that we are done with any 90+ degree days. Below is the by-decade trend of the average number of 90+ days across Chester County PA from the 1890's through the 2020's. There is a clear decline at all elevations in the number of such hot days. In fact, the 2020's are trending to be the 2nd lowest number of average 90-degree days behind only the 1970's.
ChescoWx
Of note today back in 1972 we recorded our earliest measurable snowfall in the county area. Between 1" to 3" of snow fell across the higher ridges of NW Chester County. Interestingly that winter of 1972-1973 ended up being the least snowy winter in County history. In fact, that is the only winter season that no measurable snow was recorded at Coatesville. No snow chances this season till next month. Today we warm nicely well into the 60's with low to mid 70's by tomorrow as we enjoy a little Indian Summer for those spots that have already seen a freeze this season. Rain chances to ramp up by Sunday night into Monday morning. We then turn chillier again for the upcoming work week.

As they say, October snow is never good for the rest of the season. 2011 is another famous example, with the snowstorm on October 29, followed by a snowless torch from November 2011-March 2012 (and of course, an early taste of summer in late May 2012, and 100-degree days in July 2012 - the last ones until this June). If you want to get back at flies do it now. They are very slow at reacting this time of here. You don't have to even try that hard. If it lands on your knee just slap it they barely move and usually not in time. Fire pit evening?
