High yesterday at O'Hare was 70. Perfect weather in the morning, but a few sprinkles in the evening.

Finishing up my donuts from the tour yesterday.

Not only have there been numerous days in the 40s in most areas but there have also been several in the upper 30s in the traditional cold spots of SE MI. Very impressive for August. 

This mornings low of 50 was a bit suspicious at DTW. It is the 4th low of 50 this week but today was the coldest morning. Every other nearby station was well in the 40s, including thermometers near the airport. I haven't noticed any discrepancies in DTW temps lately, so hopefully its just an unfortunate one off.

Other lows this morning included 44 at Ypsilanti (right outside DTW), 43 in Monroe, 39 in White Lake and 38 in Ann Arbor. Even Detroit City was 47 for their coldest Aug temp since 1986 (you know the DTW number is suspicious when nearby YIP is 6° colder and even DET is 3° colder).

High yesterday was 74 at O'Hare. I got to enjoy The Lumineers concert at Soldier Field.

Today will be my last day in Chicago.

Scattered shwer/stms along the lake last night, and this morning (lake enhanced with trough hanging over the lake). Nice to get a few drops of rain in to end the month. 0.25" ends the month with 1.17" (3.48" avg). Max 73.3 (74 avg). Min 58.1 (56 avg). 7am readings will put min avg up to 58.8 with max about the same. Similar to July with cooler max, and warmer min.

Really, really dry august so far, I think based on the (incomplete) xmACIS viewer, this'll be a top-10 driest august for mt. pleasant. Can tell, grass is very brown and some trees are losing leaves a little prematurely. Hoping this mid-week system gets us a good soak, but I don't think it'll be more than a 1/4 inch.

Nice. Was there also, only regret was not sitting up high, assuming you didn’t either we both missed seeing the last fireworks of the summer as he was wrapping up the show. Bears owner be damned Soldier Field is having a hell of a weekend. Prez be damned the city is having a hell of a weekend also, felt like the center of the universe with everything going on.

This is a bit of a reminder that while the very cool air was in the Great Lakes and other regions, Canada heated up, getting way up to 90F (briefly?) in the Northwest Territories. As you can see, this plot showed +17C (+30.6F) temperature anomalies on Friday. Tonight, the warmest anomalies are by Churchill, Manitoba.

Last week of August was 7th coldest on record at Detroit which plummeted the hot summer ranking out of the top 20.
