August 15th deadline for ROY next year, lol I have long since accepted this is how the league does things with the best prospects this close to that.

45 days on Mlb roster prior to September 1st or 130 at bats.

That's what makes them not a rookie.

Are they worried they  are going to end up over 130 ab's?

Hm...well then there's the other part of bringing up your best prospect and having them sit on and off the bench just to avoid the 130 mark. Teams may prefer more consistent playing time for the best ones? Just speculating

Oy...What is the big deal? Are fans just impatient to see the new toys because we wanna see a spark or what? We're talking a week and a half here...This is no different than when Gunnar was called up. And this sealone is done...so what's the difference?

Beavers isn’t even a top 100 prospect right now. So this roster manipulation bullshit is all for the vanishingly small chance that he gets added to those lists at the end of the season and then wins RotY in 2026.

The big deal is that management is prioritizing this microscopic chance of an extra 2027 draft pick over the CURRENT FAN EXPERIENCE. They’re raising ticket prices and forcing fans to watch an outfield of Greg Allen (who??), Dylan Carlson, and Ryan Noda. If you had a healthy high-performing outfield this conversation would be moot. But it’s not. Your outfield is decimated and you have someone who’s knocking the cover off the ball at AAA.

Really not a good look right now.

Hard to believe the downfall and change in outlook on this  franchise over the past 12 months

Who cares about a "look"? Winning is gonna ultimately be what puts people back in the seats. This is a temporary decision that won't even matter in a year when Basallo and Beavers are hopefully tearing it up up here. Sure it would be entertaining, but as far as the long term? Now or two weeks from now makes no difference whatsoever other than the game being a little less entertaining. If that's the case...why not just don't go to/watch the game and do something else? Lol

Ticket prices aren't raised until next year...and by that time Beavers and Basallo will be up so you can pay to see them then  Current fam experience? I don't think the product being slightly less entertaining (I mean it's already a lost season) for a couple weeks is gonna make much of a difference in the long run--this is just a now, now, now thing. Once they're up I don't think anybody next year is still gonna be scowling about them waiting two weeks. We'll just be enjoying them being up here.

And maybe I'm just wired differently, but...in a lost season, why not just turn it off and go do something else if you're not entertained? That's what I do

Basallo is fine to stay in Norfolk. He still hasn’t caught that much. But 2 weeks could make a big difference for Beavers if it included regular playing time. Every single O’s prospect has required 100+ ABs at the MLB level to start getting into any sort of rhythm.

The "look" matters.

This has been a floundering franchise for almost my entire life.

What a difference a year makes.

Raising ticket prices and basically making you buy more games for their partial plans.

That's not a good "look".

Makes you almost think Angelos is back lol.

I think the look does matter. Look at there attendance the last few years when they were winning. It wasn't that good considering how many games they won in 23 and 24.

Compare their attendance to other teams that were winning during that time frame. It ain't great

Not bad points you make, but given the disappointment in this unexpected disastrous season, why not give the fans something NOW, instead of a few weeks from now(not sure I completely believe they will bring em up then either). What's the risk? Virtually nonexistent.

@Maestrobjwa

2023 - 21st in MLB for attendance

2024 - 19th

Divisional winners, 101 wins and bottom 10 in attendance.

The new ownership has some issues to contend with

2023 is puzzling given all the energy and excitement around the team that year...was it ticket prices then or something else, I wonder?

Kind of kidding, but I think @Maestrobjwa might be an Orioles bot.

I understand how it would sound that way, lol But I think that's just because of my back and forth between @Chris78 about whether the new owners are responsible for this current mess and I happen to blame Elias much more than them, lol (though their blame meter is gonna go up next year if it doesn't get better). And on this issue I just happen not to care as much if they up now or in two weeks. But trust me...I call it like I see it good or bad.

No hits since the first 3 batters of the game.

I don't know if a rookie manages to break that...maybe? Lol They been doing this crap all year! All early hit then quiet...the whole hitting philosophy needs to be overhauled. I hope this ain't an Elias issue...he oughta let the new manager pick his staff.

Left in the 5th last night.

The look does matter.  They need pitching and no free agents will want to come to Baltimore if management looks this incoherent.  Who the heck is Greg Allen, and why is he now starting in CF?

Fans are already disillusioned, and NFL football is less than a month away now. Most Orioles fans are Ravens fans. Interest in an underachieving baseball team going nowhere at that point will be next to nothing.

Methinks Tuckers 66yd FG record will be beat this season. Jags Little hit one for 70 yesterday

The primary complaints have been with how they manage prospects, though...not sure why a good veteran free agent would see that and say "nah". I mean if we actually spend the money...I think they'll come. And actually, this team likes giving it's veterans playing time and we complain about starting them over the young players, lol

As for CF is a little more tricky...Cowser is out with a concussion and I'd imagine even if Beavers were up he'd probably be playing in right.

I've actually seen some split-off of Orioles fans between rooting for the Commanders and the Eagles or somebody else. But that may be just the page I follow, lol

And hey...how long until the bellyaching about our Ravens well run organization starts? Then some could still be miserable if we don't win it all this year either! Now personally I only have a doubt because of the Manning-Lamar copycat pattern for the playoffs...both 3-5 starting year 8, Peyton didn't win it until Year 9...and of course you have the fact that no HC and QB duo have ever gotten a ring after not getting one within their first 5 years together...so ehh I don't know. We certainly are talented enough to do it--and we have been the last three years! But it's about whether it's meant to be this year.

Been a minute since I posted, but had an incredible 2+ week vacation across multiple states. I spent probably 50% of the time outside and near/in some body of water or pool. It was probably one of the best vacations I've ever had in my 35 years.

It's time to finish the warm season grind and get into the cool season. My body is ready.....seriously, it's very ready. I am sick of the heat and humidity. Bring on cool crisp nights, bonfires, football, and dead mosquitos.

Another nice day. Humidity a touch higher.

82/62

Getting bit outside working on the deck. Asian Tiger season now. Bastards are small but itch like crazy. Not many but just enough to find you, and as dry as it is they don't need much water to breed. Empty plant saucers etc.
