So this summer I decided to finally splurge. I have normal central a/c but I also got one of those nice Mitsubishi room air-conditioning units for my bedroom. I have it on a timer so it's a perfect 61 degrees the minute I open my door. I have never slept so well in years. The quality of my sleep is so much better according to my sleep app as long as the room temperature is maintained between 57-64 degrees

We are redoing our house in Texas that doesn’t have any good ductwork and putting these in. They are honestly better than central HVAC.

People think I'm nuts for how cold I keep it, but nothing keeps me from sleeping well like heat. Many years ago when I lived in an apartment without ac I used to buy a bag of ice each night to soak a bed sheet in ice water, place it over me with an industrial fan on high

Wednesday 7/16/25 @ 5:30am | More afternoon and evening showers and thunderstorms are expected across central PA today. Locally heavy rain may lead to rainfall amounts of several inches, which could result in flash flooding. Isolated strong to damaging thunderstorm winds are also possible.

I can see how we can go boom today with the trigger still back in Ohio. The atmosphere sits all day in its cauldron of soup bubbling up till trigger swings through unleashes it's built up potential energy mostly through torrents of soup.

Whose going to be the first to hit 35" since May 1st? Maybe we should do a contest.

Low of 72 with no rain, thankfully. Spent last evening helping a buddy cleanup his property. Now we see what fun today brings.
Lancaster county seems to be on the wrong end of a toddler with a squirt gun and no ice cream in sight to distract.

I've been thinking for some time now that things will revert back to dry in a hurry. But it just keeps raining and it sure seems like we're not done yet this week...

Yeah its sorta fun to watch, and at least gives pause to the "heres our new climate - scorched earth" kinda chatter.  In the end that may be correct, but right now not the case.

As seems to always be the case in this pattern showers are again likely later today into this evening. Today and tomorrow look like our warmest days...with some spots especially tomorrow possibly touching 90 degrees for the first time here in the month of July. The NWS has issued a heat advisory for tomorrow afternoon. We then turn a bit cooler with high temperatures maybe a couple of degrees below normal, starting Friday and through the weekend with highs in the low 80's. Highest rain chances after this evening look to be Saturday night into Sunday.

Probably me, cause of where I live between the mountain and the creek at the low spot in elevation.

How much do you need to get to 35" since May 1st? I only have 7" or so to go, but trust me, it's not a contest that I want to win. (unlike our mowing derby)
