Doesn’t it often snow in the NC mountains in May? Every year, people act like it’s shocking

Above 5 thousand feet its pretty common. Elsewhere no.

I would say it is unusual unless you are elevations like Clingmans Dome or Mt Leconte. But early in May it is possible at some of the lower (5500') elevations like today.

Once again we got left out in the cold. 80% chance of rain and all we managed to get was .05". After a low of 56, high temp was a very pleasant 69.

Last time we got more than .20" was back on April 11.

You did better than me. We got 0.01” today and we haven’t had more than 0.20” since April 10

Damn Tornado warning for parts of Orange, Alamance and Chatham counties.    These storms are pretty strong

I'm right in the line of it.

Had a strong storm move over us but 10 minutes of heavy rain only dropped .20" and that was it. Hopefully we will get more later today. Big storm blew up just to my south and east and missed mby. Did cool us off to 70 from 84.

I thought most of today’s thunderstorms would be to my south, but I was pleasantly surprised to pick up 0.27” when a quick cell moved through earlier this afternoon.  We seem to be in an “anything helps” dry period.
