If anything, the Sixers should have kept McCain, and traded Embiid (the timing of George's suspension made him untradable at the deadline, but they could move him in the offseason). The Sixers could have turned the page with Maxey, McCain, and Edgecombe as core of the future. Trading Maxey, while still keeping Embiid and George on the roster, would stunt the rebuild for this team. Agree that trading McCain was a bad mistake. And sure, trade Embiid if you can but probably only Nico Harrison would have even entertained it and he's manning a wendy's drivethru somewhere now

He would have been perfect for the next rebuild/retool. Only reason I said about trading Maxey was that this team reminds me a lot of the late 2000, early 2010 teams. Had talent but could never get to the next level for years. Then Hinke came in, blew everything up and started over. Which in general sucked as well as they had years of top 5 picks and only Embiid to show for it.
The Iceman
I honestly stopped really caring about the Sixers/NBA after the league forced out Hinkie then brought in Coangelo to blow up what he was building. End result was so predictable. I think the NBA product is awful to watch too.
JTA66
Why in 2026 are local TV mets still doing the weather tease? “Here’s tomorrow’s forecast and I’ll be back later on to let you know how the weekend is shaping up.” Um, everyone can simply look at their phone to see how the weekend is shaping up.

They do that with everything. Something like, a local Rockstar has just died coming up. Like I'm going to wait? I can talk to the phone and have the answer in 5 seconds without wasting my time watching stupid ass commercials then you getting back to me... Itstrainingtime
I was at the Flyers game last night. Probably the loudest I've heard the center since the 2010 dream run to the Cup finals. Still nothing compared to the Spectrum but it was nice enjoying a true home ice advantage last night. Even better that the team didn't lay an egg - they have been infinitely better on the road all year. Also, Ersson has found it. He's been a completely different goalie since the Olympics. Right now Rick can feel somewhat comfortable starting both netminders.

Ah, never mind. 2010 vs Chicago A little run in the playoffs would be nice, NFL draft in another 10 days and hopefully the Phils can get the bats going then training camp. Severe weather would be a bonus as well. Anything to get through these dead boring hot weather months on the colander till Fall approaches.... PhiEaglesfan712
At least we won't have to wait as long for the next NHL season to start. With the season expanding from 82 to 84 games, the 2026-27 NHL season will start on September 29 and end on April 10: https://x.com/PierreVLeBrun/status/2037514216995787011

They also need to go back to seeding by conference 1-8 even though the flyers benefitted from it this year. I think regular season hockey is a slog and I'm a hockey guy.
The Iceman
I think the Pens are the absolute best matchup for the Flyers, I think they'd be heavy underdogs for anyone else. Glad to have some postseason hockey though. I have a broken foot right now but I'm still going to try to go to game 3. Let go Flyers!

I liked the 2020 format. ~70 regular season games and a 24-team playoff (seed 1-12, Top 4 seeds get a bye in the qualifying round, which seeds 5-12 play, with re-seeding every round). Of course, the NHL is all about profit, so they'll probably not eliminate games. We just have to hope for the next best thing, which is to expand the playoffs.
