January 6-7th Ocean Effect Snow Map

Recommended Posts

Here is my next event snow map for Cape and Islands, it is an Ocean Effect Snow event from January 6th through 7th, models have been giving off .1-.3" of QPF for this event, which could be from 3-6" of snow on 20:1 ratios with such cold air in place.

There is about a 25% chance at a higher snowfall then predicted

I think the smoothed grids on the models gave the impression that more precip would fall closer to the coast. Based on the wind direction there just wasn’t enough fetch to get it done. 150 miles offshore there was a blizzard over the weekend
