67 / 58 clouds .  24 hours remaining in the June gloom / onshore flow.   Flow comes around Sw -  tomorrow.   Much warmer. Sat - Mon and with enough sun the hotter spots get to 90 or above, especially Monday with another area of 850 MB temps >18c crossing through.  Storms bring locally > 1 inch and perhaps up to 2 inches focus later tonight, Sunday night and Tuesday afternoon.  Beyond there the drier / warm 3rd and 4th.  The 5/6 weekend is a mix pending.  Beyond there into the week of the 8th hotter.

7/3 - 7/4  : Warm / Dry fourth
7/5 - 7/7 : could be wetter / humid
7/8 - beyond :  turning hotter

All the great ones really stand out, Don !! Does this mean to have a historic summer you need a hot fourth of July weekend (or sometime during that week or shortly thereafter) ??

Look at all these wonderful summers in the above chart: 1949, 1966, 1999, 2002, 2010 !!

Likewise, I remember how cool 1986 was not just in July, but also in August, very clear haze free cool skies for my very first Perseid meteor shower (four straight nights in mid August) !!!!

The hottest July 4 cases tended to occur during hotter summers, overall.

Summer (June 1-August 31) Mean Temperatures for Central Park:

10 Hottest July 4 Cases: 75.3°

10 Coolest July 4 Cases: 73.1°

All Other Years: 74.1°

Overall, though, the relationship is weak (coefficient of determination: 0.105)

July 4th continues to look great on the models, and now Saturday looks good too. The models now hold the rain off until Sunday. Give me good weather for cookouts and fireworks Friday and Saturday, and I'll be very happy. Of course it's still a week away, so we hope things don't change.

if they change, it would be good if the rain held off until Monday.
