It's hilarious that Detroit will very likely end up with more snow than the areas that were under headlines or expecting any decent amount of snow.

The HRRR is now consistently showing 2-4"/3-5" in the city.

I'm sure wisconsinwx and buckeye are somewhere calling us every name but Jesus Christ.

Easily the heaviest snow of the season. The winds are whipping it up everywhere making for near whiteout conditions. Weenie food :-)

Definitely a very pleasant surprise this morning. I know some of the models were showing it playing out this way last night, but I couldn't have imagined the temperatures would have crashed so decidedly all at once.

Hard to believe it was raining an hour and a half ago. Looks like a totally different world now.

Two hours ago it was raining and in the low 40s. It is now a mini blizzard. Temps in the 20s, wind howling, snow falling, accumulating, blowing and drifting. Looks like an inch already. Not sure Id say heaviest of the season, we had like 1/8 visib for a time on Nov 21st. But definitely the first wind-whipped powder snowstorm of the year.

Lol yesterday on DTX facebook page someone asked if there was any chance we would go under a WWA. DTX responded with one word - no.

The November snowstorm was some of the most scenic snow you will ever see, but it was a cake job with not much wind. Right now the wind is whistling as the white is swirling...winter is roaring in....finally.

Model trends were clearly in our favor even yesterday. GFS, UKMET and GGEM picked up on this evolution Friday evening. But of course since the darling ECMWF failed to do so, they just chose to ignore the overall growing consensus.

Even though total snowfall will be nothing special, for those who love active weather this is right up their alley. The change over the last 3 hours is insane.

And it's going to be an overachiever as well.

Most areas will end up with 2-4" easily, with probably some 5" lollipops on the east side.
