As of 340am in Dale City, light snow, 31 degrees, 22 dewpoints. I am stuck with 10 dbz returns. The green band is well north. Once the snow reaches the ground in DC they should do well.

Here's the deal: Commuters should not have it too bad this morning. Side roads are getting white only in patches. Car tops are white. Looks like the 44 degree mild air did the trick in warming the roads yesterday. It's not all that cold this morning, 31 degrees. As soon as the sun comes up temps should warm above freezing. Main roads should be wet only and traffic should proceed freely. I dont foresee any weather related backups in northern Virginia or the District. The District will be milder. Its so mild that Dale City almost has boundary layer issues with accumulation lmao!

The heavy band is setting up well to my north. DC should get 2-4 inches of snow, maybe even more. I expect maybe an inch. I'm stuck in the subsidence between bands lmao. I'm used to it. Seasonal trend this winter has been Fairfax, DC and Rockville get a deathband, this storm is no different. Enjoy it zwyts, Bob Chill and others in the deathband  :) I'll be happy with my inch.

Yea looks good for 1-3" for our area.

Time to get back to dealing with a sick dog...of course she chose the new area rug to throw up on. ;) at least roads will be empty when I take her to the vet with the OPM delay for Feds.

Hopefully she gets better soon... and good to see OPM do the 2hr delay route

Are the roads getting white there yet?

Where the truck didn't reach, yes.

Channel 7 just reported the express lane entrance at 395 Edsall is closed because a car was blocking the road further along.

Fairfax and PG just announced 2-hour delay, while PW schools went ahead and closed. So did St Mary's.

Channel 4 is showing snow porn in Woodbridge.

Yes! Temp has fallen to 29 degrees! Snow is picking up! Woot!

EDIT: Moderate snow now, I am now under 25 dbZ returns, these bands almost resemble a kind of deformation structure. I know, I am going all weenie on you all now, of course this is NO deform structure, this is no trowal, but it sure looks like one! I can dream, can't I? lol

2nd EDIT: 28 degrees now! 24 dewpoint! Continued steady snow! About a quarter of an inch so far. This might be half inch to three quarters of an inch rates.
