Pittsburgh, PA Thread: Winter '14-'15

Recommended Posts

Id say four at the most and thats being generous. We had a few mornings where a coating to an inch fell. Good news is that can all change with one good storm. Too bad the next big storm THREAT seems to an I95 and coastal plain storm if anything. Seriously when was the last time we got a storm of 6+ and 10+??

The last time we got 10"+ was Feb 5-6, 2010

Last 6"+ was in Feb 21, 2011

I've measured 4" this winter, all coming in that one week.  I'm not anticipating finishing this winter with more than a foot total, the pattern is just dreck and is struggling to change for the better.  In all fairness, though, both February and March could produce plenty to get us to average.  Right now I simply have trouble seeing that happen.

Well according to our averages we are due for a storm of atleast 6+ In nature. Thats insane its been that long. I hope the current storm can come closer and closer to the coast and amplify but we know how that goes.

Looking like a decent swath of snow in eastern OH about to make it across the border into PA. Probably won't amount to much assuming it even holds together given temps will rise above freezing but should make for a nice scene outside.

The clipper for tomorrow looks a little more impressive on the NAM, maybe .2-.3 but temps will likely limit accumulations.

The 24-25 storm probably has little chance to effect us. That damn clipper in Canada should serve to kick it SE, now if that is further North, slower, or faster so it can phase in then who knows, maybe we can get some light snow out of it.

I have been watching this too. I think unfortunately it will be here around 12-2 and judging by the Hrrr it will be warm enough for some more rain-snow mix and will only accumulate on grassy surfaces if that. Yes tomorrow looks better if we can stay cold enough.

GFS comes a bit further NW with the 24th storm, but nothing that effects us. I'm going to say its about time for the Euro to get all wound up and show an apps runner now lol.

The ingredients are there, we just need to thread the needle. I think if I am I-95 people I would be worried about a supply of cold air. This storm really needs to wind up for the storm to create its own air. Still a few days. I am also watching the 25-27 storm. I am rooting for snow, its been too long.

Well, I was on the South side and now I'm in Homestead. Nothing accumulated at all. Not even on the grass. Just a wet snow that moved through these areas. I'm guessing Bethel is probably the same. This is probably another case where you had to be north of the city to get accumulation or be at a higher elevation.

My wife said it accumulated on the pavement initially then only the grass.
