Pittsburgh/Western Pa Weather

north pgh

Recommended Posts

NWS has backed off of their original forecast. They're saying 2-4 total through tomorrow evening. I think they did this last week as well right before the event started and we ended up getting their initial forecast. We'll see what happens. These clippers are pretty weak so maybe each one drops an inch or two with a little LES mixed in.

If you're south of Pittsburgh, you've seen very little from this one so far. A weak system to begin with and the bulk of the moisture has stayed north so far.

I've only picked up about a half inch so far today but it is now snowing the hardest it has all day.

Very fine snow but visibility has dropped to about 3/4 mile. My side street is now snow covered.

The heavier batch looks to be moving south.

I measured about 2 inches this morning. Roads were pretty dicey around here between say 5:00pm - 8:00pm when the more moderate returns were hitting us.

Looks like NWS discontinued the Advisory last night due to lack or organization with today's clipper. Probably will see another 1-2 though.

Looks like a pretty active week as we start to slowly moderate again.

This system reminded me how happy I am I don't do this for a living anymore...I joked with my wife as I was spending the whole day with her ...I would've been so tired and miserable about the busted forecast.....so happy for the bust now...less to shovel..can't wait for the 50s next weekend.

I think most places in Allegheny county will have 2 day totals in the the 2" to 4" range, so not really a bust. I just think they were a little quick with original totals and the advisory. I'll probably wind up with between 3" and 4" total, but it was low impact do to being spread out over about 30 hours

Moderate snow moving into Washington and Greene counties.

It looks like the models are right and the heaviest of snow will be just south of Allegheny County.

I myself like most of you have light snow picking up in intensity but not accumulating on the street or driveway. I probably have about 1/2 inch of new snow on top of my current snow depth.
