just had a shower in West Seneca. Got to wonder if that area of clouds along with some showers causes a temp boundary to set up that could cause convection to fire this afternoon. However, CI will be tough due very warm 700mb temps from the remnant EML overhead. Lake breeze converegence is limited since the synoptic flow is SW and there is no true lake breeze front.

Syracuse up to 99...looks like they'll break 100.

BUF pretty saltry at 87/71...we should break 90 given it's only the 1pm temp.

Oven roasted here on the SU Hill....

....breezy at 100 kinda makes it worse!! Going for 101!!!

you gotta wonder when the lake is so warm if it's really all that much of a stabilizing influence. Dewpoints appears to be hgher around the lake and adjacent...which adds fuel to the air even though the absolute temp is cooler. Theta-E/W is higher in BUF than it is in ROC.

Yeah, we are getting to that point in the summer where the lakes aid in instability rather than stability....can really get some long tracking T-storms from S. Ontario to gather momentum (wind) from now through Sept. with any boundaries coming through.

There's still a noticeable absence of cu over the lake itself but you wonder just adjacent to the lake if it helps by now. Tough to stay...higher moisture vs. lower temperature. Obviously in August at night you get thunderstorms to develop over the lake because of the increased instability but during a day like today not so sure. There's cu over the Niagara Peninsula, southern Michigan, and just north of Lake Ontario...we'll have to see if we can do anything with that over the next several hours.

Yes!Lake Erie is a record tying 76 but even more impressive Lake Ontario is 77 today!

We can only hope. Today is really drying out any smidge of moisture that was left with the strong sunshine and 30mph winds. Only saving grace is the high dew points.

well i'm pretty sure the dry soil in our backyards wasn't going to make or break the day lol. I'm very happy with a dewpoint of 71...that's pretty damn juicy.
