Fringed as expected. An inch here. Jealous of the 6-8 south and east. Happy for them too.

Above a couple of inches won't likely happen Thursday night into Friday in our neck of the woods. Action is south and east again. Let's see mid month.
-
Happy 2022 all. Let's see what our snow chances are this winter. A bit stinging to watch the fun to our south today. Friday may be interesting.

It's been so warm, a mosquito came into my house yesterday and bit me. I am serious!

I am definitely a weenie, but when it doesn't snow, I just look at the bright side of that (don't have to clean up, no driving issues, no disruptions, lower risk for accidents, injuries etc). Chins up weenies. Winter is like a box of chocolates. You never know what you're going to get! Love, Forrest.

Agree about the west needing moisture. Lots of snow for the Sierras, good for water reserves.

Crazy. They just had snow there last week.

Pretty out of the ordinary isn't it?

That's not what I want to hear

That 3/14/17 storm was a white monster up here in Poughkeepsie. 22 inches.

It's about time we get away from sexere threats from cold fronts to cold season, winter synoptic patterns and forecasts. Had enough of tornadoes in our neck of the woods. Had a tornado 5 miles from me on Friday. Good to see blue back on maps, actual outcome to be seen.

I am good with seasonal temps. Save money on heating. Let the snow come in Dec, hopefully.

A plus EPO, neg PNA regime makes it much more difficult for sustained cold and snow, but how would a plus EPO in combo with Atlantic blocking (neg NAO, AO) look like? Analogues? I would imagine transient and brief cold periods with potential snow amidst a sea of above normal temps.

Yeah, winter during winter would be a nice change. A white Christmas for all too would be sweet. One can dream.

Ah, I love it when tropical moisture meets a bit arctic air in fall sometimes.
-
What are your thoughts about some of these winter forecasts from AccuWeather and Almanac calling for a cold and snowy winter around here? I always read these with a lot of skepticism.

Holy smokes I am so glad we are not in the tornado threat area. It is now September and the flakes may start flying only 3 months or sooner from now. Looking forward to a hopefully pleasantly cool and calm fall.

I am imagining the red means 2-3 feet of snow in a huge winter storm about to strike.

Want to take this wet wet pattern into the winter with cold please.
