This is true, but it will depend on when temps rise above 32 and when the heaviest starts. If shorter duration, ice impacts will be less. But we have to be prepared for the worst case regardless.

I was living in Rochester, NY with that storm and we got a foot of snow for it up there. I remember it very well. My car got stuck in a snow bank.

What is your take on the projected soundings tonight for ice greater than, .20 for our area? I am not rooting for it. I like having power and heat .

A moderate snow of 4-8 inches would be beautiful. -
Winter Sturm Watch hoisted for mid Hudson Valley

Walt, I see the blue mostly in the higher elevation locations. I am hoping our lower elevation in the mid Hudson Valley will reduce power outage potential.

I remember early April 2010 saw record breaking heat up here. Would be wild to see that again in one of these Springs.

If it's an ice bomb, praying for sleet, not ZR. Sleet is good pack preserver and snow on top of that would be just epic. We shall see. Models are so quick to change. For all I know we could all be looking at 2 flood bombs next week.
-
Totally rooting for the 18th to deliver a blue bomb for us before the big melt commences the week after, if I am not mistaken about long term guidance.
-
Projections for our latitude next week? Today was so beautiful with gray skies, cold and deep snow. How much snow vs ice over the next week should be interesting to see.
-
Really appreciate your analysis and input Walt. It is so valued! Getting a very sleety feeling for most of us up here around the 84 corridor, snowpack preservation material. Hoping we can cash in on several inches of snow like the UKmet 12Z shows. Really want to avoid ZR. 12z guidance is all over the place still, but a wintry mix more than snow seems highly probable.

Someone in the NE forum mentioned models this year have a warm bias in the medium range. Any thoughts on this?
